Put it another way if LW was given the same team as IB, i doubt he would have got us promoted, and if IB had the same team as LW he would have probably got us promoted
That is a good way to look at it Davy.
I think LW was more likeable and had better man management skills.
They both left after just 18 months though for "greener grass".

I said i would forget the LW situation but when our game was called off yesterday i was drawn to watch him direct the team at Swansea, it did bring back the memories tinged with a little sadness listening to his voice booming out for another team.
Any Notts supporter worth his salt will remember what LW did for our team, together with what our club did for him...... a job in the Championship, its worked both ways.
I'm fully behind our new management team now in the belief that our owners have uncovered another gem, i know that remains to be seen but SM just seems to have that little nous about him in the way he interviews, hope i am right. What a feeling it would be if..... this this time next year our next home fixture were to be vs Swansea complete with LW back at the lane!.

Maybe but none of that is fact just an opinion.

The only fact is his tactics/decision making got us up.

As for Mair MOST coaches would not have done that he was brave enough and it was genius.

The reason he changed the keeper is because Slocombe had never saved a penalty before, whereas Mair had saved a few from his time at Norwich.. Many of those in the ground knew what was going to happen when the game went to penalties.. It wasnt rocket science ...

Still have to be brave enough to do it as it could have backfired.

It was HIS call and it helped us get over the line by the finest of margins.

Not sure how it could've backfired when everyone in the ground wanted it to happen.

Yes we did he bought him on 119th min so in those 2 mins left he could have made an howler.

Also if he dived wrong way on all the pens you can bet LW would have been slagged off "Trying to be too clever etc"

A lot of "what ifs" there, what had we got to lose, Slocombe had a poor game and has never saved a penalty for us. Hardly a brave decision and if he hadn't done it then the odds are we'd still be in the National League.

It wasn't a brave call, it was a call that had obviously been considered at length prior to the game. Both keepers would have known that if it was going to pens then the change would happen.
