Sadly-and social media and it's enablement of hateful keyboard warriors has a lot to blame for this I'm sure-any culture for the encouragement of reasoned debate seems to be fast disappearing in this country. IMHO, this needs to start being addressed from an early age in schools.

The current fight back for freedom of thought and expression around the idea of "gender identity" may at least show some signs of hope. The initial concept of being "woke" (awake) to issues and inequalities around race or ***uality was a good thing but it has escalated out of hand into a "cancel culture". As philosopher Karl Popper commented : "Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance...if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society, then the tolerant will be destroyed and tolerance with them"
