Bringing in a striker of any quality, that is competing for one place against Langstaff is a very tough gig.
I would think it more probable we would strengthen the attacking mids with a view of McGoldrick moving up top if Langstaff was injured.

Yeah, I agree. Any striker coming in will almost certainly be backup while Macca is here. Plus, we have Scott hopefully coming back for the last few weeks or the season.

Saturday showed me that when we struggle we don’t have the players on the bench to change things. 2 key positions that IMO need competition is up front (preferably a big man as crosses were coming in and Macca was competing with giants) and out wide (right or left). We must have the budget to do so without having to get rid of players (I’m not saying we shouldn’t let one or 2 go) as we have the LW compensation and an average home attendance that has to be higher than planned for?
It was documented somewhere that the increased attendances merely meant that the Brothers did not have to put as much in to balance the books. On a week to week basis the club is still far from sustainable it appears. Still losing millions a year.

Nothing against Scott, but should we be relying on a player who by the time he comes back would have played very little football in 12 months?
My desire for a striker is not to replace or be an understudy to Macca but rather someone who can partner him. Didzy was far from his best at the weekend - the same for a few others - but no quality replacements on the bench to change it up.

Wimbledon’s Al-Hamadi gone to Ipswich for a reported £1.75m. Scored fewer goals than Macca and on a shorter contract, but 5 years younger.

    Could be an interesting comparison.

If that is the case then the owners' strategy isn't working. Do we need to carry such huge expenses at this level? How do other clubs manage, those with much smaller crowds, some of them are above us?

I guess the only way to be viable is for Football Radar to use the club to showcase its operation. Buying Langstaff for 50K and potentially increasing his value to 1.5 million is exactly the kind of thing that shows it can work. Unfortunately, buying like likes of Morias and Randall proves the opposite. The same with managers, unearthing LW and making a profit on him.

Dipping back into the NL, which we should have left behind forever after 4 painful years, does not show great judgement, particularly dishing out 3.5 year contracts which other managers have not had. We need to start thinking like league club.

Apologies for going against the board's orthodox body of opinion, I know it makes some people angry.

We need to start planning for next season, and finding younger, energetic replacements for Bostock, McGoldrick, Rawlinson and O'Brien.. Also transfer list Morias and Randall..

Wow, that's a lot of money. You'd imagine Macca would be worth a similar amount then. Macca has a better scoring record, but Al-Hamadi is younger and perhaps has the physicality you'd need to succeed at the level.

I’m surprised Notts didn’t try to bring Dallas in for the season, he’s ended up at Oldham on loan.
