In last Sunday’s Sunday Times newspaper it stated that there would be 1,200 fewer places for people in Scotland wanting to study at Scottish Universities because of the Scottish Government’s insistence that all students living in Scotland will receive free university places. This is because Alex Salmond stated when he was First Minister that H E L L would freeze over before students living in Scotland will be charged to attend university in Scotland.
As a result Scottish universities have lots of non Scottish students studying at Scottish universities.
Local authorities do a deal with care homes for funding the elderly with self funders in the same care home paying a higher price to pay for reduced price that Local authorities are being charged.
This is another extra cost for people who have tried to better themselves have to pay if they end up in a care home or nursing home.
