His ball control is pretty terrible - thought he would have decent technique after playing in Belgium
He's like a slightly better Calvin Zola
True! I'd forgotten - he scored a few for us at least? I quite liked the guy - just not as a footballer
Hopefully its a confidence issue with Gueye and more games and a manager that plays decent football can get the best out of him - we need to see some kind of return on that outlay
I know with where we're at as a club every transfer won't be a hit but theres been a fair few stinkers mixed in amongst the Miovskis and Duk's
There has been a lot of upheaval in the scouting/ transfer department too though - hopefully a settled team will bring better results
Also - maybe not for this thread but I'd like to see at least two from the youth get established in the first team - I think Mackenzie is getting better and Barron will be a loss but can't see anyone else getting many games? Really wanted Ryan Duncan to make progress but he seems to have plateaued
MacKenzie is benefitting from a run of games in a settled position. (It's amazing what a run of games can do for most players). Still a target for many, but I hope his progress continues. I feel he just needs a bit more belief in himself.
Not sure on Duncan. First time I saw him play I thought we had a player on our hands, but just hasn't happened for him.
A loan would be in his interests if not getting game time with us. Still see him as a player who is best played behind our strikers, never a winger though. I've not given up hope with him.
Hopeful that Milne gets a run, seems to have something and also looking forward to Bavidge returning for next season.
About the limit of my knowledge of our younger players. Would rather we stuck by our kids than sign some of the dross we have signed over the years.
From what I've seen, I've no clue what Ryan Duncan's best position is.
Doesn't seem to have the early zip for the wide role in which he's very often deployed.
Don't know if he's got the "Oomph" to play as a sitter.
Don't know if he's got the fitba (yet) for a creative/advanced role.
Yep, this is it for me.
We had 3 strikers. We had serious needs in midfield and on the wings. We spent £500k on another striker. It makes absolutely no sense at all.
The lads not looked great, he’s hardly played, but how could he when Miovski’s been unstoppable, Duk is a proven goalscorer here (albeit stalled a bit this year) & Sokler so far seems an able deputy.
Apart from the fact he may well be shyte, the recruitment strategy that sanctioned this signing at that time is deeply flawed and needs serious questioning…
Was he signed as backup and to be developed if we got an offer we couldn’t refuse for Miovski last summer?
Feel sorry for the lad and hope he gets game time and sharpens up in Norway
When he came saw him running down Union Street in an attempt to catch up on his fitness
Gueye says he went to the casino to relieve the stress of not playing under Robson.
Not sure where to post this so I'll pop it in here.....
Was watching Bavidge's hat-trick on YT https://youtu.be/Qj6uXgQgoi0?si=bHkbnOz7BkfZgNGj
nice goals - great finish for the first, excellent penalty - won and scored for the second, but the third goal was the best for me
he nicks the ball off the right CB who is receiving from the left CB and tucks it away - the most impressive part is that when I watched it a few times you can see he actually makes his run before the RCB makes his pass, he knew what he was going to do before he did
It was a really impressive show of reading the game especially in a kid who is still 17
I really want to see him play for us next season high hopes for him - hope we get a manager in who can realise his potential (and the rest of the team!)
Good chance both Duk and miovski will be gone this summer and chances on hitting the jackpot in replacing them is slim.
Sokler may well come good with a run of games under his belt and possibly Gueye, but would be great to see one of our own come through and do the business in the first team.
As you say, the key is in appointing the right manager, which by the law of averages, means we must be due a decent one this time around...
