Reading have been deducted a further Two league points, taking the number to Six points.
The Reading owner, Dai Yongge has also been fined £100,000, ' For Non Compliance ' &
urged to ' Adequately Fund ' the Select Car Leasing Stadium outfit, or sell his shareholding.

An EFL statement reads : An Independent Disciplinary Commission [IDC] has determined
that Reading FC are to be deducted Two points, from the 2023/24 league one table, with a
further Two points suspended, after the club failed to meet HMRC payment obligations in
    accordance with EFL regulations.

' The sporting sanction will be applied immediately, resulting in the club being deducted a
total of Six points in the current season, having received a One point penalty in August 2023,
before a further Three points were removed in September 2023 '.

' The suspended points deduction will be activated in the event the club fail to pay amounts
owed to HMRC, other clubs or any other football creditor claims by the due dates, up until the
end of the 2023/24 season '.
The Two-point deduction sees the Royals drop to 19th in the league one table, three points
above the relegation zone, with 11 games remaining.

In January 2024, Reading agreed to a suspended Three-point penalty, with the EFL over the
pitch invasion which forced the abandonment of their league game against Port Vale.
Over 1,000 Royal's supporters entered the pitch in the 16th minute of the match on the
13th January 2024, in protest against Dai's ownership.

Before this at a home game, against Portsmouth FC, the game was delayed twice after
tennis balls were thrown onto the pitch.
Expect a protest on 18 minutes in one the next few games this time then..the timing last time on 16th minute represented the amount of points they have been deducted previously..so now it’s 18.

Okay it looks as though they are destined for League 2 but they are still not making payments on time to players and staff. That's what you get with over spending overseas owners hoping they can bend the rules and cheat the system.

Let's hope this is sorted once and for all and stern disciplinary action is taken against the owner.
