Imagine they’ll only be in position for about six months before a proper Labour candidate is elected at the next GE so it doesn’t really matter.

Are you suggesting Mr Ali wasn't a proper Labour candidate? I think Sunak and Starmer are both trying to hold a tiger by the tail, just different tigers. Someone said elsewhere something like 'this isn't a big issue with voters', I totally beg to differ and think 'it' will be a vote winner for both sides depending on GE candidates stated or assumed views

No…I’m suggesting that at the GE there’ll be a carefully vetted and appropriate Labour candidate who will be a ‘shoe in’ in a place like Rochdale regardless of who wins tonight.

That's the divide and conflict Andy

    1. Vote for me, I'm putting Muslim issues first, even those not in the country
    2. Vote for me, I'm not letting immigrants dictate the tone of politics in this country.

RESULT= MP'S NOW IN THE FIRING LINE , depending on their stance on the topic
You are not sitting on the sidelines anymore boys and girls
