Many times he will play a ball without considering the consequences of it or even looking up, which puts the recipient in trouble too. Last night, just before his f up he played an abysmal ball back to LAH that was about 10 yards wide of where he was because he's doesn't bother to look up first. No spatial awareness. It's not scapegoating when his decision making both in and out of possession must have cost 20 goals this season, probably as a conservative estimate.

I had a similar conversation with my old man last night. The thing is with the way Notts play, it’s so driven into patterns that a decent percentage of the time, Baldwin doesn’t need to look because he knows where his teammates should be when he has the ball in various scenarios. Especially the ball back to his GK. Often Baldwin doesn’t look and generally makes the pass; it’s so drilled into him where the GK should be and into the GK where they should go. I understand that sometimes you’ve got to look, but that’s how football is coached nowadays.

That example lends itself perfectly to the whole issue. Is Baldwin making those mistakes because he’s not good enough or is he being asked to do too much.

He is not good enough to do what he is asked. So not good enough for the way we want to play.
OK, so some may say lets change the way we play to suit Baldwin. No, the answer is not to renew his contract at the end of the season.

But where do we get ball playing centre halves who also defend well? If they’re around they’re not playing in league 2.

You may need to change the way you play mid-season to suit what you have.
But you don’t lock yourself in by signing or re-signing players who are not good enough to do what you want. Probably for 2 years as well.

The transition from NL to EFL 2 hasn't gone smoothly.
A lot of players and resources have gone on players who have hardly impacted the first team.

Morias, Randell, Colckett, Stone, Rawlinson, Warner, Randell, Adebayo Rowling, plus the unfortunate injuries to Palmer and Bajrami and Scott.

The number of players the manger has had available has been very small, and so often the bench has no-one who can come on and influence a game.

You are quite right, there have been quite a few where recruitment have got it wrong.
Especially as I didn’t realise that we had signed Randall twice😊

You can add Chicksen and Tipton to that list, plus McGoldrick from Dec. 30 onward.
