    New Head of Recrutiment

United have brought in Michael Cairney as their new head of recruitment. He has already identified a number of targets and put names that Goodwin is looking at. The talent spotter has previously been head of recruitment at Doncaster Rovers and Barnet. Cairney, who has also worked with Dutch side Twente, comes in from a scouting position at Southampton.

He worked for Southampton but also scouted for their Sports Republic group, French side Valenciennes and Goztepe SK, specialising in the Dutch and Portuguese markets. Goodwin admitted he wanted to build up United’s recruitment team on their return to the top flight.

Has he a good track record, on the face of it yes would be very positive if so but if it expands our recruitment net then fair enough

Hopefully? Best bit of news I've seen since Chris Mochrie sealed our promotion!

Obviously we have to wait and see what players come in but surely this is absolutely what we need.

Wonder if this leads to some sort of financial input from Southampton owners. He worked for the Sports Republic group who own Southampton and couple of other clubs.
Tully had mentioned Southampton as potential investor and Cairney says he has been working on potential signings for a few weeks.
Mibbe a prerequisite he becomes recruitment boss for potential investment to happen.

Couldn't hope to understand the potential investment angle but happy to see a potential strengthening of the off field team for next season, best wishes Michael.
