    Congratulations to our Under 21s

Congratulations to our Under 21s tonight on winning the Central League Cup at Derby.
Approaching half time they were 0-2 down but manages a goal in the third minute of added time when Westley hit the bar and the ball went to Murray Campbell who scored with a header.
In the second half they made two substitutions in the 61st minute and scored the equaliser in the 63rd minute through Joe Westley after being put through by Tommy McDermott. In the 82nd minute our centre back, Ben Ward, rose to head in a Tommy McDermott corner and we played out the remaining 13 minutes to win the cup.
Well done lads, great to have a bit of silverware at whatever level.

Good to see the chairman there, not sure many other chairmen would travel to see their team play in this type of game
    Well done to everyone

Good stuff, all we have to do now is keep them from being sucked into the Gawthorpe Black Hole. Best of luck with that.

Sub, you have a better handle on these lads than I do, it's clear we have another talented group of young players. but inevitably most of them won't make it, but do you see any first team potential in this group ? Any we could pin even a little bit of hope on ?

Sinky, sadly, I have been unable to watch any of our games in the flesh, although I have seen a number on various feeds when they have been available.
This season has seen players go out on loan and many Under 18s pushed into the Under 21 because of this and also quite a number of injuries of which we never have any real knowledge.

I have probably seen more of the Toon youth teams and, to be honest, one of the best players I have seen for them has been Alfie Harrison who came to them earlier this year from Man City and is known to Army, I believe.
In all honesty, I think that the majority of their youth players will disappear into their own black hole, although one or two have come through in the last couple of years and have been given a chance by Eddie.

Sorry that I can't be more positive from our point of view, the only thing that comes to mind is that quite a number of ex-Clarets played at Wembley this weekend or in other play-off matches for their clubs at lower league levels. You also have to remember that some of the Academy players do not knuckle down to the life as they should do and fall by the wayside, that has always been the case.

Yes agree with everything written there Supersub.
Eddie does seem more willing to blood younger players than many other Premierleague managers and Alfie Harrison does look to have a bright future if he keeps developing, I'm sure he'll get a chance from EH.
As you say , most players at Academy's won't make the level and will filter down the leagues due to not fulfilling potential or attitude , others will get doors opened in alternative roles like , physiotherapy, sports science, analysis , fitness , coaching and journalism.
    Good luck to them all.
