I think King Lear perfectly sums up your very good metaphor SB , madness , tragedy and ultimately betrayl are all in there .

The tragedy was of course that Lear couldn't see it .

The very best drama tragedies always have that moment , the moment when the realisation hits the victim that they've been had .

Then again I suppose Aidan Marsh could be blamed .
