Rooney is obviously not doing it for the money, so I can't understand why he would think it a good idea to take that job, with Plymouth barely surviving this season. He's unlikely to improve them and there has to be a very high chance of them going down regardless of who they appointed. I would have thought managing in L1 or L2 would have been his best bet for restoring his reputation in the game and pushing his poor win ratio up.
Almost as bizarre an appointment as Birmingham taking him on.
