I wouldn't take too much notice of plummeting bookies odds. They have no more idea than you or me who's going to get the job, they're just trawling for mug money. As soon as they see a new name linked on social media or by a journo, they'll put them up at fairly short odds, giving the impression they know something, or there's been some clever money for them, then they sit back while the mug fivers and tenners flow in and wait for the next name to surface, then it's rinse, repeat. When the bookies do think they really know something they'll go long odds on or stop taking bets altogether.
