Nice lad and kept order, and things ticking over, very well.
Thainer IS actually a legend. The good burghers of Central Banffshire are humpy-backit cairryin stories about him.

    One example…

After having worked there for a while, we took the heiresses to Helsinki on holiday, and we took the ferry across the Gulf of Finland to admire the tanned lissom Bond girls of Tallin, or maybe that was just me…

Anyway, we were still part of the EU, and Estonia wasn’t, so we had to queue at immigration to get in. Younger child was registered on my passport, but the older member of the next generation and The Spouse got through well before us. On reaching sanctuary in 32°C heat, I was interrogated as to why it took so long.

“The border guard boy,” I offered, “Scrutinised my passport and enquired, ‘Place of birth, Keith? How you think Maroons will get on this season now that Thainer has signed for Locos?’”

Dismissed by other family members, naturally. A cross I bear, and which Roos would fail to grasp.

Thainer’s debut for Locos was in a pre-season friendly against Celtic, and he, as a NE hun was delighted. In the first half, he ran out of his box to try to stop a Tim forward, and broke a leg in the process. A few weeks later, I was at Harlot Park for an Aberdeenshire Cup tie against a young Dons XI, and I saw Thainer on crutches standing by the dressing room. I went across to enquire after his recovery, and told him the Estonia story.

His response was, “Is that right?”

“No Ian, it’s shìte”, I admitted.

“I might still use it in an after-dinner speech, though. Is that OK?”

    “Whatever, Ian, whatever…”

Jonny Hayes has joined the ranks of ex dons again.

Turned down a role with the youth team, so have to imagine he will be going down to the green filth for a similar role.

I can't wish him any ill will. He was a cracking player for the club.

I know he had his injury woes at PNE but he also only got 4 games at Bolton.
His career so far is not what was forecast.

Hope Maloney gets best out of him at Wigan. If it even still is Maloney, can’t keep up with Wendyball merry go round.

Maroons’ fundraiser lunch yesterday. The Golden-Gloved One discusses the 1999-2000 Highland League Championship win with a 1980 and 1984 Premier Division Championship winner.

He'll be hoping that he’s a rock in their defence but he’ll have to just put his laces through the ball and stop monkeying around pretending that he can play a bit … taxi!
