    50/50

Whether I want Scotland humiliated or do well.

Our press just as annoying as English but on a smaller scale.

    Humiliation it is.

    Incredibly poor, rabbit headlights.

Stood off just like we do versus OF. Give any player enough time and he can play a decent pass.
Looked like we weren't trying at all, damage limitation and it didn't work at all. Even McCoist predicted what would happen.
Players looked sluggish and saving themselves.
Hope we see a completely different approach for the next game. It's a cup final and needs total commitment.

We are not a good side and that was proved again tonight. To be fair we are a small nation a tenth of England's population, a six****th of Germanys'. I know other small nations have punched above their weight at times e.g Denmark etc.; we rarely do apart from an odd match and this Euros' qualifying was good but when we come up against the big boys at big tournaments we freeze and today's debacle was a typical freeze.

I've never been a fan of the twee, Scottish football fan abroad image of all Jimmy wigs, kilts and bagpipes and 'wha's like us' bonhomie. Each to their own though and in many folk's eyes cheering on the team and singing away when they are 4 or 5 goals down and playing rubbish is admirable but after an abject performance like tonight it can come over as embarrassing. The opposite of absolutely monstering the team may not be the answer either with, imo, somewhere in between about right.

Agree with most of that and would add Flower of Scotland ; what a total embarrassment of a 'national anthem'.

Exactly what I was thinking watching the game last night " this is just like watching Dundee versus Celtic" stand back and let them do what they want with the ball, pretty sure the German keeper had a book in his pocket.

The Scottish international football team usually play well when they are the underdogs such as 3-2 win against Holland in the 1978 World Cup which included the Archie Gemmell goal.

Fair point Islay. The minute we try to play tactically we get stuffed. Need to go on the attack and press when we lose possession.

Just close the opposition down quickly, especially if we are up in their half.

It's a long time since I cared at all about international football, can't even be bothered with the 'anyone but England' stuff which is just a disgrace anyway.

I watched that shambles last night because I'd been invited to a friend's house for it. I made a few predictions before it 1. Scotland would be humiliated 2. Neuer would be as well staying at home. 3. Gunn should be nowhere near international football and 4. Germany would score more goals than Che Adams would get worthwhile touches. I think I might put a cheeky wee bet on the games today because I seem to have a third eye for these things.

Interestingly two of the people I was with were Celtic supporters. As soon as Porteous made that challenge I said 'penalty and probably a red card too'. Both disagreed and said it was a good tackle and, when it was shown, the red card was a disgrace. I guess it just goes to show that if you see your own team's players get away with that kind of thing week in week out you start to expect everything to go for you but when you're a fan of another team you get used to the reality.
