    EFL fixture release

The prem has released its fixtures today and Rushcliffe are at home on the 17th meaning a likely home start the week before for the mighty magpies. They are also at home Boxing Day, which is annoying.
Who would folk want at ML first up? I’d take one of the ‘bigger’ supported sides like Ches or Bradford.

Best chance of 3pts on the board asap, don't let any pressure build up.
Let's tempt fate, home to Colchester, same as the relegation season.

I'd be happy with a relatively easy game at home to maximise the chance of a winning start. Chesterfield at home has disappointment written all over it as far as I can see!

We had Bradford on the opening day two seasons running in 2008 and 2009 but I don't think we've ever had Chesterfield on the opening day (they don't tend to put local rivals together for game 1). I should write some code to spew out a table of the sides we've met most times in the opening fixture.
Bromley home would be nice for the historic first FL fixture angle. Colchester home perhaps the most winnable.

How can u fear anybody 1st game of the season? Every club starts on an even keel.
Chesterfield could have a crap pre season, Morecambe have an experienced manager in place.

I don't fear any team at this level, but I'd prefer a low-profile home game against a team not predicted to be a promotion challenger, simply because we're more likely to win. Starting the season with a home loss to what will be our closest to a local derby would be pretty painful and would give the 'Maynard out' brigade all the ammo they need.

So you do fear, otherwise you'd have no concerns. As for the out brigade, the result won't matter if the performance is Gareth esq, FGR away
