    I don't think money would come into it as much as people think - in fact it is probably beneficial financially to see his contract out.

    When he's a free agent in the summer, any agent worth his salt would say if he was contracted he would cost you so much - he's a free agent, split the difference we want X as a signing on fee and this as a wage.

    If he replicates the amount of goals he scored last season, next season - he'll have more suitors if they don't have to pay a fee and that gives him even more bargaining power.

    It's whether Notts want to gamble on losing our most prolific goalscorer ever (not including Brett Angell) on someone who hasn't just been made captain, knows the club and the team and is settled. I wouldn't consider anything less than £1m and then add-ons.

    You are aware Macca’s contract doesnt end until 2027 right?

    This is what I think as well. With Mansfield, Wrexham and Stockport gone it is the perfect time for us to push on. We’ve made some good defensive signings so with the likes of Macca and JJ at the club we have a very good chance of being promotion contenders.

    If we get promotion or not next season then I think both will leave for the championship next summer and who would begudge them.

    That would depend how they perform this season.
