We had net migration of around 1.4m over the past two years, in many communities such as where I used to live it’s the incoming migrants who’ve put unbearable stress on public services.

How can we possible allow in around 750,000 people a year when we can’t build anywhere near the 350,000 new homes we need each year?

Also, when does this stop?

At this rate, in 20 years we’ll have another 15 million people living here, in 100 years it’ll be 75 million additional people and the population will be more than double what it is now.

It’s untenable.

I constantly ask people like yourself where do you set the limit?

Seemingly you don’t?

I don’t understand, I just don’t understand?
As 923 points kind of points out, the people coming here illegally are the minority. Legal migration is the majority.

Stopping the boats would stop about 2% of the people who come here. It's barely worth even mentioning.

One of the biggest issues we have in this country is the ageing population. We need younger people to work, because the number of older people in the country is increasing. The birth rate of British citizens is not increasing (because we're not exactly encouraging young adults to have children - which is another topic entirely) so where do we find people of working age to come in and do the working jobs we need to get done?

We have god knows how many refugees in hotels, unable to work who we're paying for. Why? Why not give them a temporary working visa? I bet most of them are bored out of their brains and want to work. We have fruit that needs picking, hospitality roles, refuse collector jobs - we have almost a million job vacancies. Yet, we have 100k people sitting doing nothing in hotels. I bet some of them will get pushed into the black market and crime in order to earn some cash. The current strategy is bonkers.

The Tories have cut public services to the bone. I read that over 800 libraries have closed since 2010. Is that immigrants fault?

Immigrants are an easy scapegoat for Govt's who break public services. And most people who come here want to work and earn money. So why not let them?
