Rigid 352 for us next season by the sounds of it.
That save from the Turkish keeper is the best save I have ever seen and I have seen Bank’ssave from Pele. Given the weather conditions and his positioning ( he was central Banks was a lot closer to the post) and the header was slightly closer that for me was a better save.
Football has changed a lot since 235 and Davie Millar Briggs.
Maybe not always for the better I agree, and I also agree about the mostly rubbish TV pundits.
What I was on about is this.
The coaches of smaller nations like Georgia Slovakia Slovenia (and Turkey last night) have excellent coaches who know how to set their teams up to try and get a result against "better" teams.
Some of them have had great success with 442 and I've loved watching well drilled defences with 2 banks of 4 moving forward in a line and back in a line. That very nearly dumped Engerland out by the way.
Last night was different because the Turks played 523, very unusual and it was brilliant to watch their high pressure high intensity. When defending one of the Turkish 5 would pressure the central player in possession, stepping out to make it 433 then stepping back to keep the 5 in a row. They did it time and time again and the Austrians couldn't figure it out.
I know some people think formations don't matter but they do make a difference depending who you're playing.
The teams mentioned above have got brilliant coaches and players that follow their game plan to the letter.
We got the guy from Kilmarnock who wouldn't choose Ryan Gauld cos he doesn't like him much, wouldn't play our best striker and can't change things during a game.
can't change things during a game.[/QUOTE]
I'm sure a coaching manual at Largs specifically tells coaches to persist with possession and you will win the number of passes to teammates during a game. Hopefully, we never have any more of this lone striker malarky. Goals win games, having more strikers giving defenders more to think about will stop them from starting attacks of their own with all that freedom with only having one forward to contend with.
Great trip bar watching Scotland of course. The manager should have fallen on his sword after the opening game out of embarrassment if nothing else.Mind you England who are still tournament FAVS have only been slightly better than us yet find themselves in the 1/4 finals. If there are footballing gods up there the English flag flying above Downing ST will be doon soon.
Delighted with my back up team Spain who i got at 8/1 before it all started but very disappointed with France who have been as bad as England. They really F'd everything up by not winning their group and ending up on the wrong side of the draw which benefits England.Imagine our cousins down south landing up on the easier side of the draw eh?,Hopefully the Swiss roll them over today pardon the pun![]()
Glad you enjoyed the trip anyway mate, could have swore I spotted you in the crowd against Switzerland btw. Scotland really let the fans down and Clarke is a stubborn c*nt who's run his race as far as I'm concerned. No passion,no fight, no anything really. Fans were absolutely tremendous though!
Rio Ferdinand say's at H/T,"I can feel the goal coming".Its 10 years in October since i cancelled my licence fee and there is no FN way i'm paying him money to come away we shyte like that when they havnie even had an FN shot on target. At one England corner the ball ended up at the feet of Pickford i kid you not.
It does have to be said though that the Swiss have been a shadow of the team that beat Italy and they are treating England with far too much respect, have they no FN watched the utter garbage England have served up throughout this tournament?. There hasnie been a goal coming Rio but at the moment i feel England are going through.
The Swiss have been a high pressing team but they have not done that today.
