Remember Widmerpool back in the day where Notts used to train? I watched a friendly down there once and the players were falling down rabbit holes and kicking mole hills !

Will they not be able to train at ML now that the stitching has been installed, therefore greatly reducing divots and damage?

I thought we were happy with our set up over the last 2 or 3 seasons.
    Are they asking too much?
    Are we short of cash?
I hope the transfer money will be going towards new players.
On the face of it then it seemed like a good arrangement with Forest. Obviously we do not know the ins and outs as to why we are not using that facility anymore.

I think the brothers are sensible enough to appreciate there being some value in having some form of amicable relationship with Forest especially as there will no doubt be some emerging talent in their academy at some point and a loan move helps both clubs. It's been some years now since Grant and Yates came on loan and now we are back in the EFL and Forest are in the premier league loans may start to happen again?

It does not need to be anything lavish either. Some full size grass pitches, a 4G all weather floodlit pitch that could be used by other teams and the community along with a small building with changing rooms, a can**** and some education rooms.

Mansfield have this with the Radford and Hymas academy and it’s basically what I’ve described.

The problem for the brothers will no doubt be finding somewhere in Nottingham close enough to the ground where such a facility could be built.
Not sure why it has to be near the ground( obv in Nottingham terms very expensive). Locally to me Lincoln built a training ground from scratch in the sticks nowhere near their ground.

Notts may have other thoughts but if we’re only looking round Bridgford/City and surrounding areas no wonder we haven’t done it yet.

From what Joe Palmer said at the fans’ forum, Notts aren’t specifically looking for land near the ground - but getting any land isn’t easy or cheap. Also, any land in a decent site will always interest housing developers, who will invariably have deeper pockets.

Notts trained regularly on The Embankment during the Warnock promotion seasons.
Previously Jimmy Sirrel's squad used to train on the old Clifton Colliery ground where cinder rash cuts where commonplace during training games.
To say that footballers weren't spoilt in those days would be an understatement.

Forest have said they're looking to move their training ground as the one in Wilford is too small. Maybe Notts can buy it although it looks prime real estate so would be £££££££.

I think Notts really need to find the land to build their own as all this moving around ain't good.

I thought we used Highfields in the 1980s. The Panini 1984 pics were all taken at a training ground.....

Interesting rumour on X that Notts have “put a bid in for a training ground - Roko gym and pitch at Wilford, keeping the gym for revenue.” Someone else adds, “Being in the gym business, I did hear in passing that Roko were struggling.”

Huge if true, as they say in the media.

The old Charnwood school pitches are still there .Although the council has built facilities on the old school area itself , homes and offices i believe , the green area , pitches etc has not been built on. i think Notts have something to do with the five a side pitches on site where their youth team players possibly train. Seem to be a lot of ****age lads in Notts kits around that area. I think it would make a great training base
