[QUOTE=r. An English person should get behind their country.[/QUOTE]

Well said raginpup. I'm not a big Southgate fan but I am an English man and a Fan so no one will be cheering louder than I should we win.

Not really, black players are over-represented and Asian players aren't represented at all.

Most people would say, that's fine, the best players get in the team, but the people on the left I was talkiing about were saying the England women's team were "too white" and calling for more diversity and inclusion.

You can't have it both ways.

I haven't seen the arguments you're referring to but I can only imagine that they are calling for better ground work from the WFA and clubs to promote and encourage more interest from girls from different cultural backgrounds. Not for simply calling up crapper women footballers and playing them in place of more talented white women. Its about creating an infrastructure that creates as much interest and participation as possible from all UK girls and women, therefore giving us a greater pool of talent to choose the best players from.

If any of the people you are talking about are arguing for lesser talented but more diverse women to be selected, then I wouldn't agree, in fact I'd say it would be ridiculous. But I suspect you may be misrepresenting their views somewhat?

Either way, even if they are being ridiculous, why would that stop you supporting your national team who are predominantly made up of reasonable people playing for a major international trophy? Idiots will be idiots, and you don't seem to mind the idiots on the other side spouting ****e about too much diversity in the footy team. Let em battle it out whilst we cheer on our best Enland players.

Yes we were in the right side of the draw regarding straight knockout, but to be behind in all 3 knockout games (last 16, QF and SF) and still win is some feat at international level and we will give it a good go in the final. UTM

Do you mean such as Bobby Robson? That bloke had a great heart and everyone talks about his kind and fatherly approach to man management. Gazza, Lineker and John Barnes all talk about him being a great person

During Robson’s 8 years as England manager he won 5 games in major tournaments against Poland, Paraguay, Egypt, Belgium and Cameroon.
His record is miles behind Southgate’s and he was a much nicer person.

Hoddle had some strange beliefs and methods. Finishing second in the group in 98 meant we had to play Argentina in the next round.

Keegan was a great footballer but rubbish manager annd didn’t even want the job full time and wanted to manage Fulham at the same time.

Revie missed Leeds and Taylor didn’t have the players.

You are clouded by fake nostalgia Karen.

Cloughie will always be the best manager England never had.

The only reason we was on that side of the draw is because we won our group.

I wish Ronners or Sota were marking the Spanish wizz-kid.

To be honest I find it hard to get my head around these then and now comparisons because the game has changed so much over the decades

Many rule changes, changes in technology, the birth of the media megastar. You can't compare like with like

So Gru comparing Southgate to Warne or saying he shouldn’t be mentioned in the same breath as his predecessors cannot be challenged by using context.
While I agree with you that the game has changed massively. Robson was doing the good people and creating a love in atmosphere while Warne and Southgate were still at school. Difference is that Robson seems to be lauded for it whilst not having nearly as much success as Southgate.

If you can’t enjoy this then I’m not sure football is for you.
Never been in a euro final until 3 years ago, we’ve now been in 2.
First ever final of any description for England on foreign soil.

We’ve never had it so good.

It's not about achievements that's down to the players at your disposal & the opposition. Spain are the only side at these euros who look on a upwards curve. Southgate hasn't got that extra that sets him apart like certain previous England managers.
