    Betfred Championship Round 16

    Olimpique Toulouse 32 - 4 Wakefield Trinity

Well we well and truly had our asses handed to us this evening in the South of France .

No complaints from me , watched the game on French tv via my tablet and it wasn't pleasant .

We can moan about our injuries , we can moan about the 37 degree heat and we can moan about the travelling .

Truth is we were second best to Toulouse and they played extremely well and made us look pedestrian .

We move on and put it behind us , I expect a reaction in the derby game against Fev next Sunday .

We aren't up yet by any means , a Grand Final against Toulouse is going to be difficult .

Hey what you said a while back Animal, it might be true actually. I didn't know whether Toulouse would be a genuine threat (to Wakey winning promotion), but that result and the ease of it, really does surprise me!.
And as Feth found out last season, after finishing top and winning most of their games. It didn't count when it came to the 'Final', against the likes of London.

And as for us/Hull Fc, I don't think I've ever been less interested, in seeing us beat a top team like Wigan.
It's a real sh*t show of a season, and I/we wish it would end.. tomorrow!!. 😟

I said before the game yesterday it's ok recruiting for next season but the here and now also needs addressing because we aren't in Super League yet .

The players looked jaded and the handling errors were embarrassing yesterday evening and against a good and solid full time team in Toulouse we were exposed .

Our superior fitness has got us out of the shyte many times this season against the part time teams but not yesterday when we faced full time Toulouse .

It's misguided to think we don't have to add to the squad this season simply because we are full time and we are called Wakefield Trinity , that's arrogance .

Hull seem to have problems off the field and until those are fixed then Hull aren't going to compete for the top 6 , the recruitment for next season seems a bit scrambled , yet more older players like Zac Hardaker replacing older players leaving .

When Trinity are taking good young talent like Cam Scott off Hull for next season it tells a story .

Yeah I guess in any team sport really, there's a story to be told regarding managers/players.
And that's about who is brought in... and also who leaves!.
Look at us Tykes with Michael Duff for example. Was it absolutely all down to his ambition, and him moving to a bigger and better club etc.
Or was it a bit more serious than that, did he want to leave because of what was happening off the pitch, and behind the scenes.
A large number of Hull Fc fans are way out of touch with things these days. Thinking that we should still be challenging in the top 4, and for the Cup Final at Wembley again.
But he last time we did tose things, it seems such a long time ago now. 😕

Don't get too critical or disappointed of Trinity losing Animal it was coming for a few reasons.

Injuries, shortage of cover if Lino or Gale get's injured in the halves. Some big lads up front not fit to play, 2 early injuries to Thornley and Rodwell and on the day most players not performing at their normal level. And the heat also playing a part, which Toulouse are used to. It's a team game you have off days. it happens!

Just look at the Super League table and the number of losses other than Wigan of 5 or more.

Assuming we will be back in Super League 2025 it will be a very fine line to be in the top 6 or bottom 6.

Leeds continue to disappoint all their supporters for many seasons, Huddersfield like wise. Hull making panic signing, players who are playing on reputation not current form, like Hardaker.

Hull KR doing great, but yes, St. Helens and Catalans down to 4th and 5th spot respectively, so it's not like Acido has said same as, it's not.

Wakefield are planning well with a mix of quality, experience and youth on long contracts, and individuals signings are vetted to minimise the risk of wrong personality signings. We are still short of 2-3 Super league quality signings and also the need to keep a few 'old heads' like Griffin and Pitts to give us strength in depth.

    Hello Animal.

My mate who has the season ticket next to me cannot make the Fev game on Sunday, if going and you have not yet bought your ticket let me know and join me.

The last resort is the wife comes with me - I met her in a travel agent shop, I was looking for a holiday and she was the last resort

Wakefield Trinity 46 Featherstone Rovers 18

First local derby at Belle Vue for over 20 seasons I believe. Few Rovers fans attending no doubt down to their demise this season both on and off the field.

Trinity scored some impressive tries in the heat to get back to winning ways in front of 6453 at the game. M.O.M. for me was Pitts along with Walmsley, Bowden and Gale putting good shifts and Pratt scoring another wonderful solo effort.

Cannot see us losing a game now for the rest of the normal league season. A grand final at home to Toulouse in mid October could well see a sold out stadium and a return to Super League in 2025.

I had Liam Hood as my man of the match Chop but Pitts played well too .

I reckon you got a superb view of THAT hit on Fev's Springer in the opening set for Fev , you could hear the impact on the West Terrace , ouch !!! .

Springer didn't seem to do too much after that for some reason !!! .

    Onwards and upwards .
