Saturdays’ double header will be interesting.
We have just 18 senior outfield players + 2 youngsters (Hinchy and Reynolds) to cover for 180 minutes. Given that Palmer and Tsaroulla seem unlikely to play much or at all, that means that several players will be playing a lot more than 90 minutes and with increased risk of injury.
I would have thought that there will have to be several youth players involved plus maybe a trialist or 2.
We desperately need at least 2 more, especially a striker.

I’m astonished we’ve agreed to the double header with Peterborough when we insist on having a paper-thin squad every year.

When the double header was announced I was quietly confident that would mean a bigger squad this season yet here we are, again.

Can't remember us ever playing two games against the same club on the same day. We've had pre-seasons where we've had two games against separate clubs on the same day at different venues in the very early weeks of pre-season, but this is something else. I'm presuming we're playing the strongest 11 in one and effectively a reserve team in the other (and the same for Posh), otherwise it doesn't make much sense with a week to go to be mixing things up.

How is the squad this thin at this stage of pre-season, considering how badly we suffered last season as a result of a thin squad?

Believe in the process (as many who have blind faith in "The System" say). We will be enlightened.

Interesting that we've had some trialists in who looked like they could make a contribution
But apparently their data wasn't good enough
It must be very frustrating SM and his coaches

Very concerning the lack of some quality new faces, with Palmer still not fit, and ML gone, we are weak in both midfield and attack. If I am correct (not 100%) we have 23 players in the squad which includes 3 GK'S and 2 longer term injuries, This leaves 18 outfield players how are we going to play two full games at Posh, without using some players for well over 90 minutes on the day. I would have thought this is conducive to injuries?

Youth players as we have up to now, everyone should be ready for 90 now.

Isn’t there a restriction on the number of players that can be registered in an EFL squad?

The other thing is that we may have targets that will only become available once the selling/loaning club has settled on their own squad.
