Shilen Patel - We need to hear your plan?

Right from the start I have stated on here that I wanted to hear a clear mission statement from Patel and to know what his clearly defined plan for our club is?

This post isn’t meant as a rant about him splashing money etc, we all know about the FFP issues.

But…..the sheer numbers of players who left at the end of last season and the flood of first teamers pouring out through the door this week is quite alarming.

Meanwhile, the chairman keeps smiling and turning up in all the right places.

I haven’t a clue what his defined plan for our club is though and I think we deserve some clarity.

I think we are in big danger of being in a relegation scrap as things stand.

I agree with you. As I’ve stated in another thread, do we have a plan? It’s all very well saying that the way forward is through youngsters, and I believe in that but Carlos doesn’t have a good track record regarding this.

As I've stated before I don't think he knows what he's doing.

I think we have to sit tight and wait until the end of the window.

Everything I've read suggests the right things are being done behind the scenes. And he inherited a complete mess and an ageing squad.

From the early signs I think he is making progress, but it won't be a quick process to sort this out.

I think it’s Going to be this time next season where we see the big difference in the playing squad, hopefully this season we can do ok, a halfway finish for me would be fine

Totally expect to struggle this season. If we don't flirt with relegation then I will be happy.

That’s because he won’t play anyone who isn’t good enough Leicester. We’ve only had Fellows who is. Whether some others WILL be good enough remains to be seen. It’s as simple as that.

As mentioned lots of times - every was excited when Lai came with free scarfs and pints. People have seen Patel like a messiah but he purchased the club at a rock bottom price and certainly did not come riding in on a white horse. Nice smile though.

I will judge him at the start of the season. Carlos will be on a death wish if we start with a weakened side compared to last season as even with FFP - many expect like for like replacements. Carlos's reputation on the line so on that basis, I don't expect us to be weaker otherwise he could walk or have his reputation in tatters by Xmas!

His reputation won’t be in tatters.

People within football will be well aware of the hand he’s been dealt.

If I was him, I’d be relishing the challenge of making this rag, tag and bobtail army fit for purpose.

With Moloumby back, the new midfielder we signed and Heggem, a fit Maja and hopefully a fit Dike at some point our first 11 isn’t that bad.

For me, Swift needs to step up more and make himself a definite name on the team sheet each week rather than cameo performances and a glory strike every so often.

    Palmer

    Furlong
    Bartley
    Ajayi or Taylor
    Heggem

    Moloumby
    New bloke

    Diangana
    Swift/Wallace
    Fellows

    Maja/Dike

Yes we are thin in numbers but we are not total shy te.

Al, not everyone welcomed Lai, I didn’t because I suspected he did not have the club at heart and I know many others who suspected he was not going to move the club forward for a number of reasons.

Shilen Patel may not be as wealthy as Lai and he may have purchased the club at a discounted price compared to Lai. However, you made it clear many times previously that Lai was made to pay more than the market value for the club, and that perhaps indicates he was not really overly clever and therefore lacked more than a little business nous. Now you suggest Mr Patel purchased the club at a bargain price, which indicates perhaps very good business sense.

Mr Patel made it clear in his first statement regarding the club of where he thought we were and how he wanted us to move forward. He immediately warned that it was not going to happen overnight and that it was going to take time. We need to understand that Rome was not built in a day and success for West Brom, should it come, (nothing is guaranteed) is some way off and it may be too far for some supporters patience.
