You think we will be getting like for like replacements this late in the window? If so, I have a bridge to sell you

But he wasn’t. He went there and we received a fee for him.

What do you mean like for like? Position or ability? I doubt we’re going to find a like for like for Langstaff as that would cost 750k and 10k a week wages.

Jattas is his replacement and the owners said when we bought him they believed after a while he could be league 1 standard, his actual goals per minutes at L2 is better than Langstaff so at least he’s started well not to say he’ll emulate him.

I would hope we can get 2 in at least by the end of the window, there’s more clubs still looking for players I would say than done.

If they don’t then I think everyone on this board will say it’s been a bit of a c0ck up, till then let’s wait and see.

By like for like I mean a player that is a comfortable starter. And Jatta is a good striker, but how many chances did we not score on Sunday because we didn't have someone who'd pull the trigger? That is what Langstaff was good at so yes, we do need a replacement, otherwise we have Scott (who hasn't come back the same in my opinion) and a 36 year old McGoldrick to replace whilst also needing them to play left wing or number 10...

TBF second half of the season when games weren't so gung-ho many posters were giving Langstaff 4's and 5's in the match ratings questioning what he was bringing to the games and it was Jatta that managed to get goals in the latter games, not saying hes better than him but I don't think they'll be miles apart in ability once Jatta gets more games.

Well if you're right about Scott, then the biggest mistake is giving him an extension. Personally and not many will agree is if we can get a young pacey striker on loan I wouldn't be against it, but on the proviso we were extremely confident he could actually do a job when called upon. My main reason being it seems pretty pointless getting in someone whose going to cost a bit and ultimately have at least 2 senior fairly well paid strikers sat unhappy on the bench.

Also as mentioned I'd get a very decent WB and push Jodi as a 10 if possible and I hate to say it I think we need a GK too if we've given up on Stone, bit of work for RM to do.

Gordon was a replacement for Brindley/TAR. Tsaroulla was a replacement for Randall. So we still need to replace Nemane and we all know it'll be some U21 player to sit on the bench. The fact that our squad depth has already cost us at least 2 points this season and getting to the next round of a cup competition should be screaming alarm bells but hey, let's just sit hear saying "windows still open" when it's quite clear we aren't getting our targets

I’m really struggling to get my head around Jatta not being seen as Macca’s replacement.

They are both out and out strikers. They’re different, but they’re strikers. Jatta is a ‘comfortable starter’, I’d say that’s unquestionable.

Macca loved to pull the trigger and try and fashion himself chances. But that specific point you make about Sunday and us not doing that, can’t be laid at Jatta’s door because I don’t remember him having chances like that. I remember Crowley and Jones trying to work openings and being a bit shot shy, and our final ball being average at times, but that had nothing to do with who was playing up front.

If anything, Jatta’s goal was textbook Macca. Absolutely textbook. How many times have we seen that exact move and Macca tap in over the last two seasons?

Depending on how our recruitment goes over the next 10 days or so, we may or may not need a striker. If we bring one in, he’ll probably be slightly different to the three we have but I bet he won’t be an automatic starter. That’ll be Jatta, Macca’s replacement.

We are one of a number of clubs supposedly looking at a 19yr old striker from Norwich ..

Scott is a back up centre forward to bring on for Jatta when needed (were I think he will chip in with a few goals) but he isn’t a starter on the left wing and won’t be when we get players fit.
