We were outstanding last night. We had the creative freedom of a Luke Williams side whilst looking defensively sound. WeÂ’re still playing out from the back, which I love, but will put a foot through the ball if needed.
The tempo was much better but I think that was more down to Grimsby. They tried to press us and failed which gave us freedom to get behind them.
Fleetwood set up completely different. They allowed us the ball in our half and sat deep. Creating tempo and moving the ball forwards quickly is so much harder.
Watching some of our players last night, it just baffles me the criticism our owners and recruitment staff are under from so called supporters.

This is where we struggle but so do much better teams than Notts when they encounter this.

Whilst we did played very well, let's enjoy it without getting carried away, Grimsby will be strugglers again this year.

One thing from last night I haven’t seen mentioned. Alex Bass. Forget that he is a good keeper. How good was his distribution?
At no point did I feel anxiety in the stands when he was playing out. The amount of times he rolled it in to midfield - last season I can guarantee that keepers tried the same but not with the accuracy of last night. His passing range and decision making were first class also.

However, before a certain section of the fanbase climb back up their ivory tower and preach about how wrong everybody has been because we actually won last night, may I point that that we have only won once in our first four matches. That is far from spectacular. It is also arguable that we've only played "also rans" thus far, and, for me, the same issues about the squad remain. I won't repeat those issues because they've been done to death.

The next few days will provide a strong indication as to where this season is going. Flog Crowley and Jones - we're stuffed. Keep them and augment the squad to meet our deficiencies - we could have a strong season. Personally, I have huge doubts about Maynard but I hope he proves me wrong.

Let's wait and see.

It’s not a case of getting back in the ivory towers but you’re last comment was “Lets wait and see”.
You basically labelled people “club apologists” , the team was weaker and criticising RM when the so called club apologists were actually just saying “Let’s wait and see” and still are.
When you start saying there’s a group of fans on here that don’t mind if we get beat 150-0 and don’t care, unfortunately you’re going to get kickback.
