    Dudley Council!

They are in dire financial straits so wrap your head around this!

In Wollaston the owners of my in-laws former care home put in a planning application to turn the building into an HMO (House of multiple occupancy) but they got rejecting by Dudley Planning Dept because it would be too “intrusive” on the locality and there wasn’t enough parking.

Move forward 6 months and the same Council have just purchased this tired old building…..for £1.9m…..and their plan is to turn it into a HMO!

    Unbelievable on many levels.

I know property values extremely well in our area, this £1.9m is ludicrous, it’s worth not even half of what they’re paying.

The whole thing stinks from top to bottom.

They’ve also paid nearly £1m for another old people’s home half a mile away which they plan to turn into three houses for social housing, again, this again is vastly overpriced.

On top of these inflated prices there is going to be huge renovation costs.

So a cash strapped Council turns down planning on two buildings and then pays over the top prices for these buildings and does what they want in terms of planning.

I honestly hate Dudley Council, they’ve got in my way so many times in the past 25 years, the place is run by idiots and possibly worse!

Mick, it is common knowledge that nationally most Councils are absolutely cash strapped if not broke.. I don’t know how it is with Dudley but where did they obtain the finance? Also did these matters go before a committee and what was said there (including justification for the proposals)? I would be seriously pi55ed off if I were the applicant for the first proposal. Maybe there is a case for ombudsman involvement (if they still exist).

Council Tax will rise drastically for sure as will inheritance tax. I hope those who voted Labour are happy! Even the Polish are starting to go back home which tells you something!

Labour are and always have been, awful. If you have a decent amount of savings, spend it, before the find a way of taxing from you. If you’ve enough spare, buy a Ferrari, maybe, you can pass on a car without being subject to inheritance tax.

That is a very good point, is the same true for your home or is that considered part of your estate and valued accordingly?

Your home comes under the 7 year rule in that if you give it away then you have to live for 7 years otherwise the beneficiaries are taxed on it.

Labour are looking to extend or do away with this entirely so that more people will be caught by it.

The problem with Labour in the past 30 years is that they’re overrun by the metropolitan elite who want to spread your hard earned money amongst the feckless and wasters along with their own money as they seek to make themselves “worthy” and back in the glow of making life easier for the peasant class.

I’m dreading the October budget, I can see Corporation Tax being hiked to 25% or even 30% or more along with a raft of other taxes.
