    Ampadu v Owls

    Excellent performance from Ampadu.
I thought he ran the game for the entire match.
It's a dimension to his game I'm not sure he had but I hope he can produce that type of performance throughout the season.
It's not often a player who dictates a game will also battle away and work hard for 90 minutes.
It's nice to have something positive to raise.

Yeah he was one of a few that stood out. Thought Gnonto and Aaronson played really well and linked well. Struijk was good.

First 20 we looked a bit nervy at times but when we got the first goal you could see the confidence start to return.

Think Farke must have watched the Sunderland game and seen something as we set up slightly differently with the ball. Gnonto ended up being deep and running through the middle a lot - fire play to Farke.

Ampadu played a real captain’s part didn’t he. Controlled everything. Great for the team that, going forward into a long season.

Being Friday, I took an early day but missed the first goal by 30 sec. Then missed the 2nd goal as I was getting a cup of chamomile. I noticed that about Gnonto too, he played in the middle essentially. Aaronson appeared decent going forward, but not much of a defender. I am nitpicking. In general, a decent performance. Hardly gave Wendies a sniff, so can't complain. Another 29 wins will do the trick.

It’s almost as if Aaronson is trying too hard when defending and jumps in early making it easy for the player with the ball.

Surely 31 wins to put us past 96 points 🤣

I was going to comment during the game “when did Gnonto become a holding mid”. However it worked well. Joseph is a true striker. Please let him play regular minutes. He will develop and blossom.

My big question when I see Ampadu is “ why did Chelski let him go for 7 million????

Chelsea have/had about 40 senior players on their books last season as every new manager there seems to want ten of his own new players coming in, so they have to offload a few- we took our chance with him - a young hungry player who had been farmed out several times.

Think Gnonto sort of filled in the Rutter role with Aaroson playing more the Somerville part. Wendies manager acknowledged Willie's contribution roaming around the middle. Big job this week don't sell Willie!! he may well want to go - but he did last season too, all they have to do is tell him again he's going nowhere this year, get his head down, work hard and if we don't get promoted then he can leave next year - think he would have to accept that and think the fans probably would too.

Bad as Wednesday where that in part is down to how hard our midfield worked.

Also noted that both our goals where breakaways, something we where just as good at last season. Our problems are always down to teams that sit back and hit us on the break - sort that and we will go one better this season IMO

Overall a positive night, just need to build on it against Hull at ER next week.

Watched the goals back just now - both great in very different ways and young Matteo had a hand in each.

He too often gets brushed off the ball as if he were made of paper and then runs around lunging in to try and get the ball back.
