Thread: No goal threat.

  1. #1

    No goal threat.

Loads of posession but in the end even with ten men Barstewards looked the more likely to score.Lads put a shift in but lots of work now for Cardy to get this team to gel.Hopefully the Millwall lad will give us a bit more goal threat.

Yes, and that is how most team are going to play against us this season. Get behind the ball and let us try to break them down. The key issue for us is lack of real striking ability. We could have done with a fast goal getter in the window. The lack of I think will haunt us and cost.

Yep.I did say on another thread that we should have gone all the way to get Morgan Whittaker from Plymouth.

Our goal came because we turned their defence around by crossing from the bye line.

Once we get a few games together and cross from the lines we will score goals.

I was impressed with Foster again today.

It's his new hairstyle, he's got his footballer's head back on, he must have misplaced it like Worzel gummidge.

As BT said two years ago, 'The lack of firepower will kill us', as it turned out it never did, but it might this time.

Put Flemming next to Foster with Mejbri operating behind them and I think the tide will turn mon ami. I was impressed with Anthony, Laurent and Sarmiento when he came on.

With this squad depth I really can't see us not being in the promotion mix.

Leeds next week will be a big test. COYC.

In the promotion mix seems about right mon ami, but I think those that have backed us to win the League have done their money, as have opportunists like me who took the 100/1 relegation offer last week. Plenty of skill on display, shifts were put in and we did not remotely look like relegation candidates, top six much more likely than bottom six.

We have the makings of a decent squad looking at what I saw Saturday - but we spend too much time walking the ball into the net - the wide men did a decent job Saturday being honest but leaving foster on his own is a bad tactic - we need to get men running onto balls being delivered - also when it opens up for a shot from distance we tend to try and recycle the ball and go wide again for a repeat of the above scenario.

I think you alluded to scoring goals and it could cost us eventually.

I said in the rovers thread how dirty they were but a lot of that was because we had too much pace for their players to deal with and the result of that is a lot of pulling and late tackles - I guess what I’m saying is against other sides and not a brutal derby well may be afforded more space to go into and hence score more goals.
