    Really?

Just saw a comment saying that Furlong has some serious competition now Holgates here.

    Darnell Furlong

Albion’s right-back has been excellent for so long now. His use of the ball was superb and his second-half challenge was goal-saving. 8

    Lewis cox

Holgate isn’t in the same class as our Darnell.

I know you love Darnell Boingy 😀 but unless Holgate has somehow undergone an unbelievable transformation in quality, I don't think anyone would disagree with you.

Furlong has certainly improved his game and, whilst still guilty of some defensive errors, like yourself, I believe he was a key part in us managing to reach the play offs last season and will remain an important player for us this season.

Hopefully Carlos can work his magic on Holgate but while I think he has experience and may be a decent addition to the squad, Darnell's starting position seems pretty safe to me. Journos eh?😂

The guys a machine, but it would be nice for him to have a rest. (Like when we’re 3-0 up and 10 minutes to go, bring holgate on then &#128521

    Furlong was excellent yesterday.

I’d be tying him up on a new three year contract with a further option year ASAP.

Every week he’s in the top 3 Mick. How he keeps off the injury list beats me.

The same person who told me the Carlos wanted out rumour was being driven by his agent and not Carlos reckons we're well down the road with negotiations over a contract extension for Furlong.

It's fairly well documented I haven't been his biggest fan over the years but credit where it's due he's come on in leaps and bounds under Carlos. Fair play Darnell.

Not sure how long I'd be offering him though given he'll be 29 in October and a lot of his game is reliant on his athleticism. That said while he still has his lapses his positioning and passing has improved. A lot.

And on top of some already excellent goal saving tackles he's found the time to play possibly Albion's best 2 forward passes (1 to Fellows yesterday and 1 to Fellows for Maja's goal at Stoke.)

It's a great partnership. Never did get the negativity towards him.

It's quite simple really. He wasn't good enough. He's upped his game though and now he is good enough.

Could say the same about almost every one of 'em!

You could if you have impossibly high standards for our players but I don't. I just like them to do the basics well and hope for some quality on top. He's now doing the basics better than he was before.

I honestly believe most of our players have been doing the basics better for longer and on a more consistent basis than Darnell. At the same he's raised his game last season and this. It really is that simple.
