Allowing for inflation who is the most valuable player to play for Rotherham?

As it’s International weekend here’s a question for you. With Ogbene going for £8m is he the most expensive/valuable player to ever play for Rotherham? Martinez with his World Cup medal, Arnason with 90 international caps but for me it has to be Dave Watson with 65 appearances for England.

Any other suggestions?

No chance anyone can or ever will come close to DW. We sold him for 100k at the time when Martin Peters was the British record at 200k. Today the record tops 100m so it's unlikely we have anyone worth 50m or ever have had anyone else valued at 50% of the record.

How about Emlyn?

Clearly, he was at the end of his career but an England international and captain with over 60 caps, numerous national and European titles.

No comparison, if Harry Maguire is worth 80 million then Emlyn would be worth double.

Dave Watson was good for his era but he is a donkey compared with Arnason

Watson/Arnason....different era, a different style of football. Watson was a solid centre half but Arnason wasn't, Ill grant you he was a flair player who could spray the odd ball about.

We all have our choices at the end of the day.

Worth bearing in mind that football isn't affected by inflation like other industries. In twenty years from Ronaldo to Neymar, the record went up x10.
