Regarding Bristol , how bad was Luke Thomas ? he had a shocker , spent more time on his backside than he did on his feet , Derby well and truly had our pants down when they flogged him to us , worst waste of money in our history , reported to be £1 million , unbelievable !!!!, it is worth popping on the Rovers forum and see what their fans think of him, they make my comments look complimentary , although I do remember one poster on here drooling about him , opinions hey !!

Still have concerns about us defensively , it still doesn't look balanced to me with those three centre backs .

We've improved in certain areas at the back , we don't look as weak when dealing with crosses with the addition of Pines and Roberts but it still doesn't really convince me .

Still way off the standard of Mads , Kitching and Thomas or even Lindsay and Pinnock .

Just like last season it's enough to pick up the points against the lesser club's but against the top six club's I'm not so sure personally .

Sinclair should have equalised late on and the nearest man to him was young Marsh , got away with it .

Good performance imo. It was a stupid goal that we conceded but we created plenty of good chances, had good energy, varied our football, we we're physical, we were looking dangerous from set pieces and some excellent runs were being made

Overall it's been a very satisfactory start to the season with 10 points from 5 league matches plus the Cup results. Still room for improvement but it's looking positive.

DKD as SB said looks useful at this level and I thought O'Keefe did well when he came on second half for Pines .

Plenty hanging the young keeper out to dry across social media but that's why he's here , on loan from Chelsea to learn the game and make mistakes to learn from , it is what it is .

The lad needs to assert himself more , that penalty box is his domain , he's the one who should be shouting out and giving out the b@llockings .
Spot on, On three occasions in the first half the ball got between the back line, twice it was the defenders ball and a shout to clear it should have been made. The other time it was 50/50 and again it wasnt. Connell didnt look as though he was saying “dont worry Donovan…its ok” when he spoke to him just before the restart

    Two things:
If a team continues to struggle to put away their chances - the confidence of the opposition will grow and grow.
Bristol should have been dead and buried before half time.

The defence needs to be better organised.
It’s much better than last season (it can’t be worse) but there is still some distance to go.
It’s still early season though - so we can expect all departments within the team to improve over time.

BTW - Phillips looks a different player to what he did last season.
It’s like having another new signing.

Pines is a good defender and a potent attacking threat.
Saturday he got muscled out of it all afternoon by one of our supposed targets.
On the goal I will just remind Donovan of the first rule of defending.
“When in danger or in doubt,
    Always kick the bugger out.

It shudder gone row z. Take command in future big D.

I’m going to go further than that and stick mi neck out.
Pines will become the best defender we have had since John Stones.
He’s got everything going for him - height, speed and strength.
He’s still only played a few games in England at this level.
Give him a month or two - and there’s a monster in the camp.
And such a nice fella as well.

Not like thee to stick thi neck art and make a wild judgement now is it!

This time last season a remember tha wo telling us all that Mael, Lopata and Sheppard wo championship quality players.

Pines I do rate on initial viewing but he had a hard time against Omochere and Sotiriou on setdy. So much so our head coach hauled him off at aif time. Hopefully he can learn from that. His hesitancy or perhaps his lack concentration or awareness is a cause for concern. He got badly caught out twice on setdy, he got away with one fortunately but his other mistake cost us a goal.

Tha reight though, he has speed, height and strength. He's also an eye fo goal too. A decent signing imo.

He’s a threat in the box and has just returned from a season ending ankle injury and surgery.what I saw prior to that in his 4 games was quality, one that would develop with experience in this league.
