We have just had it here, with the Millionaire socialist that Is Starmer, who has gone from screaming about free wallpaper, to slaughtering the last government over immigration and austerity with the poor.

In power, gimmme gimme gimme, freebies galore. Immigration has got worse and he's removed more than anything he's done, to taking money off pensioners and giving it to train drivers and overseas on climate bollox.

1 point of defence of Farage to your opinion. He could have ridden the EU gravy train for years like the Kinnocks. He didn't he came and told them his appointment was to reove the UK from the EU and do himself out of a job. That is exactly what he did, to the massive amount of tears from the Kinnocks in their wailing.

We all know you’re upset about it, but as I’ve suggested before…let’s have a little perspective.
Johnson’s Downing Street flat ‘renovation’ cost around £200,000…and included a £7,000 rug…a trolley at £3675…a £500 table cloth and ‘gold wallpaper’ costing £2,260. Hardly just a bit of ‘free wallpaper’ was it?

Lord Ali Labour donor and former chairman of online fashion retailer Asos, covered the cost of a personal shopper, clothes and alterations for Victoria Starmer – both before and after Labour’s election win on 4 July

The peer reportedly also gave the prime minister nearly £19,000 worth of work clothes, £20,000 of accommodation and provided a similar sum for “private office” costs .

I think GP made the point much better and it disappoints me too that Labour have fallen into this trap. Lord Alli’s pass was, I believe, temporary and has been withdrawn, however you keep, by implication, defending and downplaying Johnson’s actions and have now chosen to ignore the facts again.

It’s interesting though, that the majority (and maybe all) of Boris’ expenditure was on a crown possession, and has (again presumably) been passed on for the benefit of future inhabitants, whereas the Starmer household are likely to be the only beneficiaries of their ‘freebies’. As GP intimates, Starmer appears to smell more because he said he wouldn’t.

I got a 40 one for all card from work last week, true story.

on a serious note I'd say most of us have received some freebies through our work, a gift, a voucher, Christmas party so on so on.

I think we expect our politicians to behave differently for some reason. Does it bother me starmer is getting corporate tickets to Arsenal? Not in the least, bet Niall Horan didn't pay for his seats at Derby the other week.

I do get that Starmer has tried to paint himself as some sort of saint and it could be perceived as hypocritical, I see they have said they won't take clothes donations anymore, I'd have had more respect if they had said 'stop bitching, if someone wants to buy me some clobber let them'.

It's a distraction from WFA, which is the bigger issue in my opinion.

Well the £840 per roll ‘gold wallpaper’ is probably still there, although there were rumours that it has started peeling off. Not so sure about the rug, the trolley and the tablecloth.

Boris Johnson, if I'm not mistaken, the big thing was that he failed to declare some, if not all of it, until pushed.

As long as the rules are there and Starmer, or any other politician, declares his freebies, there's nowt amiss with it.

Having said that, I don't believe they should get ANY freebies. For no other reason than it removes any possibility of being accused of conflicts of interest.

Yes we do expect more of our politicians, for the simple reason I’d surmise that it’s our lives they are messing with

Wouldn’t it be great to have a politician with integrity who’d still stand up and say ‘get a life it’s just a bloody bit of clobber’…seemingly not in their nature (any of them)
