My dad was years ahead of the news in regards to the Eu, he was telling me the real agenda was to create the USE, the United States Of Europe.

Then when Blair won power in 1997 he told me that Blair’s ultimate goal was to be the President of that monstrosity and to be able to world the sort of power that a US President has.

If it hadn’t been for 9/11 this may well have happened.

In my industry of sports and when I worked in grocery, there were various buying groups operating that allowed smaller retailers to achieve larger discounts from brands, this economic arrangement makes sense as did the EEC in its initial guise.

That was all it got you though, economic advantage……that’s where the Eu went wrong.

I remember my Grandads words when I asked him how he felt about the common market. He simply said “It’s a good idea as long as that’s all it is” He was dubious as well. I don’t think any of us foresaw how it would turn out. It won’t last, I’m sure of that. Too many member countries have no real love for it.

With all due respect to your old man/grandfathers, but what level of reliable information did they have back then to make those calls?
Then you have to ask yourself since 2016 to now.. how far have Europe got towards this conglomerate or USE? Have they got any closer to establishing it? I pretty much doubt it.. and I don’t buy into that. Give me some examples.

I agree it should all be about trade though and some freedom of movement.
