If you're old enough, could it ever get better than Leeds 0 Notts 1 in the League Cup in 1975. Ian Scanlon with the only goal. I was 13 and went on a coach from the White Lion in Bingham. Stopped off to celebrate at a pub in Wakefield, soft drinks of course, but enjoying the celebrations in a public house for the first time was brilliant. Still on time for school the next day.
Beyond that every win across the river is worth cherishing

Letter from an Fword fan to Jimmy Sirrel after that 1-0 win at the City Ground in 1975. Re-printed in Notts' matchday newspaper.

8th March 1977 Nottingham Forest 1–2 Notts County

In the 53rd minute, Viv Anderson tried to clear the ball and steered it beautifully into the Forest net. I looked through the fence separating the fans, saw a Forest supporting school friend and gave him a smile.

    Boy - there's so many.

Trevor Christie's hat trick on the opening day of the 1983-1984 season at Leicester in a 4-0 victory. My personal favourite. In 2016 I was in the Notts Directors' Suite and Colin Slater asked Christie (who was guest of the day) to talk about his favourite moment at Notts - he talked about that game. It was surreal.

The FA Cup Quarter Final at Spurs. They cancelled our Sunday game in the Sunday Afternoon Premier Division and I didn't realise that 12 of our our squad were Notts fans.

Notts winning 2-0 at Forest in 1981-1982. I was in the Player's Lounge afterwards at Forest and John Robertson came in with a glass of whiskey and a cigarette and looked a state. He was my hero in the 70s and they say, never meet your hero - so true.

Even one has a special meaning.......

    Some great stories below

Leicester away felt amazing to be part of 4,000 travelling fans when I'd been in crowds less than that at home circa 1986. Going to Old Trafford was also very special, just a pity that was the 0-2 loss rather than the 3-3.
Which Leicester game was that UTM?

I think Fashanu got a red card too didn't he? I think he left Forest not too long after that.

Some of my favourite, most memorable away days actually ended in defeat.

Chelsea away in the League Cup during the 00s was great fun. They were newly minted and had splashed the cash on players like Veron. We were in administration and didn't have a pot to piss in. We managed to take the game to them and scored a couple of goals. Great atmosphere from the fans.

I'd even add Forest away in the League Cup in 2011. I know the football gods weren't having it and somehow enabled Wes Morgan to score a 30-yard volley to equalise in the last minute and then go on to win on pens, but again, we gave a great account of ourselves. The celebration for that Hughes goal was something else. Despite ultimately losing, I walked out feeling like we'd sort of won.

Early in the 1990/91 season, they had to open up an extra section to get us all in, yet despite that backing the team arguably put in their most inept performance of the season and in attacking our end 1st half I don't think we created a single chance against a Leicester side struggling and having lost 7 in a row. We did equalise though, which caused a crowd surge, the only time I've been in a proper one. We went on to lose 2-1, but was a good experience nonetheless. Would have liked to have been at the 4-0 win in 1983 by which time I was a season ticket holder but didn't start going away until 1987/88 season.
