He hasn't covered himself in glory with that statement that's for sure.

It's quite worrying to see how poor we are .SE is being outwitted by most of the teams we've played this season. What does concern me is the fact that TS could not attract a better manager to come to the club. It's as though, after successive failures in managerial appointments, he turned to SE thinking this is the last chance to get it right.

Second Bottom Shrewsbury away on Saturday - The have only won one game all season as well but lost all the others

Millers have scored 5 this season - so have Shrews

Can/will we get that away win before the 2 year mark?

I don't like that statement from Evans about how thick the fans are. Of course we know Birmingham are a cut above the rest. But what we don't like is someone who throws the towel in before the game and sets up to draw...a plan which backfired totally. It was a disastrous approach to this game from Evans. He's got to win the next two games to keep our season alive. Personally I think we'll be looking for a new manager by Xmas. Time has left Evans behind

Agree with this pretty much completely.

Aside from the patronising nonsense from Evans, we seem to also be waiting for this bonding thing to happen, which may take 10 games or so... Brum had about 7 players in their 11 who only joined this summer (excluding Stansfield)... presumably 'better' players still need to bond.

He won't go, he won't get pushed, and I think we're in for a season of incremental improvements which will see us floating around the bottom half of the table, maybe threatening 12th spot. I suppose being just a thick fan who doesn't understand football, I should be grateful if it goes that way as it's better than last season.

Tigerish, what's left us behind is our current set up from top to bottom.

We have at the helm, the best Chairman this club has EVER seen in charge and we probably wouldn't be here if not for his intervention. However, fast forward 14 years his tenure and if you want to still expect success without the proper investment then, you are going to fail. Lack of commitment in expenditure will not attract any decent Manager, only those way down the pecking order and ex - Managers looking for that last big contract.

    Our biggest barriers are:

    1. Geographical location.
    2. Low fan numbers - see point 1.
    3. Attracting better players - Much larger financial investment required.

Unless some very extremely wealthy Multi Millionaire wants to own this club and take us forward, when it's time that Tony Stewart steps down for whatever reason, we will see even darker days.

Let's be thankful TS is still here but for now it's like trying to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear, why do you think we never actually signed anyone pre season?

We wouldn't have a club without TS, but as pointed out the club still doesn't own it's own ground and we could end up back where we started (unlikely I know). However he seems to struggle with people that aren't yes men, he seems happy to hide behind Evans (not hard really) and he has been very quiet since SE appointment. Remember last year he told us he had invested more and he would do it again, well he hasn't. We haven't replaced the players sold, he has overseen us slashing the playing staff by around 30% (22 players leave, 14 join = -8) player list on website =25. We haven't spent a penny on transfer fees, Now we know there has been a huge drop in revenue from the Championship to League 1, so obviously transfer money has gone to close that gap. What is annoying is that our COO stated we had a "very very good league 1 budget", that doesn't really stack up with the other data. Thank god we have had TS but some of the issues we have this season are caused by the way the club is run and that lies at his feet, perhaps some open honest statements from the powers that be, might have helped.

I think we have been told Mr Stewart turned down a foreign investor but the boards decision was to turn it down. They say they want the best for RUFC but surely due diligence would have given them the answer? Obviously it did not but that was not shared with th fans.

Derby you promisede last season you do occasionally post positive posts.
I'm still waiting M8. You can't keep repeating the same doom and gloom stuff for another 40 odd games? Can you?

Fair challenge, I don't think that is a negative post, it is just pointing out some reality. There is both good and bad about TS as there is with most people, I will always be grateful to him for saving our club.
I am not going to post rose tinted glasses stuff when the evidence builds up against it. I have just posted on another thread what a good player Kelly is, I will add to that by saying well done to the club for getting us such a good player, I will say the same about Reece James and Powell very good recruitment.
P.s. James brother is an unattached player and would fill that last spot and give us midfield cover.
