Hmm, didn't he say he was thinking of selling up last season? The circumstances couldn't have been much worse at that time.

We have Jordan Hugill tied down until the next World Cup.

I'm not saying that's a good strategy, but we made sure he was around for a good while.

Retaining the volume of season ticket sales is another plus….
    Improved catering
    Embracing Safe standing
    Investment in training facilities
    A rufc mobile app
    A partnership with ticketmaster

    There’s 6.

Or the person making that decision was possibly mis-led?
Tony Stewart knew that the season tickets sales would drop after relegation, so probably on advice from Paul Douglas brought Evans back, not as a football team term, but purely financial for the club.
Time that Douglas should be shown the door, which should have happened quite a few season ago.

None of those represent a strategy though.
TS should have a chat with Tony Bloom at Brighton.

Agree with this. That’s not a strategy that’s the training ground needed doing and was below an acceptable level.
The rest is just smoke and mirrors.
We’ve lacked direction for a long time.

The 2014 season was his best - cant ever see him gerrin anywhere near that. He's done little since leaving us.

Tony should let go too now - he must be well cheesed off no matter how good buddies they are.

So the theory is that he shelled out £x to buy out Leam Richardson's contract in the hope of making abit more than £x in season ticket sales?

    That doesn't really stack up.

I think Stewart's tenure has been marked by a clear strategy, which is to run the club within its means (which is another way of saying within the boundaries of his willingness to subsidise the club) and to achieve as much success as can be delivered within those means. I would argue that it quite clearly what he has done since he took over.

If there was a deviation from the strategy it would be marked by the Matthew Taylor era, where he brought in a person who he believed to be a promising young manger and loosened the purse strings to a degree. That didn’t work (or arguably was not given enough time to work).

To my mind, bringing back Evans marked an attempt to bring a bit of success back to the club as many on here believed that he had brought in the past. The issue with that is that Evans’ strategy in the past appears to me to have been marked by a churning of players at what I would assume came as a significant cost to the club. I have always assumed that it was Stewart’s view that such an approach was unsustainable that led to Evans’ departure.

THIS is the sort of post on here that boils my piss. Something that isn’t working was PROBABLY on the advice of Paul Douglas and for all the wrong reasons, therefore Douglas SHOULD be sacked.

Why do we invent scenarios to scapegoat employees of the club? It’s moronic and it happens all the time. Probably.
