    Match Ratings vs Burton

OK I know many won't give a toss but here's my 2 cents worth on a very enjoyable game

Slocombe.. 6.. Nothing to do in the first but looked a little unsure in the second, came for a few balls he shouldn't have, decent enough
Chicksen.. 6.. Defended well, some neat passes but never in an attacking sense
McDonald...8.. Wow... first time seeing him and we have a player on our hands, only lasted till half time but looks the real deal, huge unit who can move, was excellent
Cundy... 6.5.. don't want to be hard on him but just doesn't convince me that he's a first teamer, prone to some stupid errors but second half defended well
Hinchy.. 7..decent night for the guy, won some ball in the middle and some clever passing, played well
Gordon.. 7.5 ..Number 1 target all night was to bomb forward and he got his reward with an excellent goal, caused them problems until he was subbed
Cisse ...7.5.. Absolutely rapid young lad, not everything he tried came off but boy did he try, popped up in defence on occasion too, good game
Reynolds...8.. I thought he really looks the real deal, not afraid to put in a tackle, some lovely passing and looked at home on that pitch tonight, cracking young player
Austin... 8.. Just my MOTM tonight, so much energy and got the all important second goal, some great tracking back also, was excellent all game
Grant... 7.5.. Was shocked he didn't reappear for the second half. Was a delight to watch in the first apart from his terrible miss
Brown... 7... For effort alone he deserves a 7, some great link up play and had the chance to score but keeper made a decent dave, gave his all for the team
    Subs
Macari... 7... came on and did his job very well, defending stoutly and looked to organise the back line when under serious pressure
Tsaroulla... 6.5.. Nothing much in an attacking sense but also one to put his body on the line during the onslaught
Adiefeh.. 6.5.. Struggled to get involved for a while but did his job well, still going strong in the 95th minute... Good night for the chap
Sanderson.. 7.. Really like this guy, put himself about and always tries to play the intelligent pass, hope to see more of him in the first team picture
Muir.. 6.. Should be a 10 for just the pure enthusiasm of running onto the pitch in a Notts Shirt, he looked so excited and him running over to the fans at the end was wonderful, great young chap
    Fans.. 10
To have that many fans travel on a Tuesday night in an EFL Trophy match is astounding...they all deserve a medal...sang their hearts out too, brilliant support

Great set of scores , although I might give Cundy a little more as he did win a lot of the balls coming into the box especially second half. Sanderson ran and ran when he came on and seems to have grown some. Cisse looked a real handful. Although the youngsters played well. Austin was immense!! I for one enjoyed the match.

    thanks for these!

The highlights are up on the offix site. Is that McDonald made that 50 yard ball to Cisse (?) for Grant's chance? Those crossfield long balls are a good option for how we normally play.

thanks, yes I just got there!

Good to hear. Bedeau's been good too though if they're being thought of for the same position.

The away result will give these guys a real lift. I understand the dislike for this competition, but as it turns out tonight will be great for club morale.eta especially after Saturday.

Thanks for these - nice to read such positive comments. Watching the highlights, it’s striking how many flicks and progressive passes Grant makes in the first half to put us in great attacking positions. If he can do that in the league, he’ll be a real asset for us.

Very encouraging to see Rod McDonald finally make his debut for us, too. Once he’s fully fit, the question is whose place he will take in the back three.

Wasn't it Chicksens attacking run and cross that lead to our 2nd??
