All boils down to funding full time status in the Super League era .
I think all of us are old enough to remember the pre Super League days when players even in the old first division were part time and trained two nights a week .
Anyone going on YouTube and watching some of these games from the 80's would soon see just how much players have improved from those days in terms of skillset and fitness , whilst we enjoyed the game then today's game is a world away from that era .
Rugby League is a heritage sport only really loved in Yorkshire , Lancashire and Cumbria and in my opinion other than Catalan it will remain that way .
From what I read last week RL is in pretty decent shape compared to Rugby Union who pull in the bigger tv bucks .
The ten Premiership club's collectively are £300m in debt and the game is in a dire state financially .
Maybe the RFL aren't quite as bad as they are portrayed because that can't ever happen in Rugby League with the salary cap and long may it continue .
