1. Hinkley Point C is currently under construction which started in March 2017. The original estimated cost was something like £10Bn when the talks started. Current estimates are between £42Bn and £48Bn. It was estimated to be operational in 2027. That's looking like 2031, now. Nuclear power plants take a huge amount of planning and the build takes around 10 years, if there are no intervening problems like a pandemic, on top of the trials and tribulations of creating the design, detailed plans, planning regulations, objections, appeals and God knows what else

2. I'm currently paying €0.25 per Kwh for my electricity. I have 3 more months left on my 3 year contract. Did I ever get that right, going for 3 years, back in 2021. I have a new offer from my supplier for €0.275 per Kwh. 10% rise for 1 year. When I took the 3 year contract, it was the cheapest one in NL. Bearing in mind my new one will be €0.275 (£0.231) per kwh, I looked at UK prices for comparison. I found npower (June 2024) supply it at £0.1599 per kwh (€0.19) which is a lot cheaper than my new offer. Source: https://uniacco.com/blog/cheapest-energy-suppliers.

Shame I can't get npower over here for 19p a kwh as that's cheaper than what I can get it for over here.
