I got up for a slash at 03:30hrs and couldn't get back to sleep because of it. I hate football.

We played well, should have won and keeper makes an error to a freak deflection - gutting but not the end of the world.

See thrush has come out to chirp his nonsense.

Yes the ball was deflected (I note you don't blame Firpo (again!) for doing what any defender would), but the ball looped in the air for about an hour before it hit the ground, all Meslier had to do was take a step or two forward and smother the ball on impact, obviating any spin deflection. He didn't, hence the result was entirely his fault.

As for not being the end of the world, let's see where we are in May next and what difference a VERY solid and safe two points might have made.

Took some doing that from Meslier , also good to see him having a laugh about it with his ex boss.

Best keeper in the Championship according to Farke....

Sorry hopey but not having that he took his eye off the ball due to a split second lack of concentration.

    Piss poor.

Fans are completely entitled to their opinions but when it becomes personal - step to far.

Football is so often a dog-eat-dog environment but keepers testify to a different moral code, Billy.
There is even a term for this tendency towards mutual support, aka "The goalkeepers’ union". There are no subs, no union meetings and no walkouts, but many will bear witness to the sense of solidarity between the sticks regardless of the fact that Meslier is French, likewise my brother.

It’s a bit of a cliche, but goalkeepers are effectively playing a different sport.

Goalkeeping is a misunderstood art. It’s almost like Fight Club. You try to stick up for each other cos no matter what club it is the keeper is getting stick for something.

In every training session, every game someone is asking ‘Why didn’t you do this, Why didn’t you come out for that etc
If YOU actually look through the five decisions they'd have to make in that half a second then even you probably still wouldn’t understand.

When it comes to criticism the position of goalkeeper, even now, is quite misunderstood. From a keepers perspective if you give an opinion then it is only ever going to be an amateur opinion if you haven’t played the position.

I stated on here years ago that my Mum was a bag of nerves watching my bro playing for Nantes & she still is & now you'll understand why. 😊

He made a big mistake but so did lots of outfield players it just doesn’t have as significant an impact typically.

Manor Solomon slips and the Burnley players goes the length and scores - because of where it happened rightly he doesn’t get pelters and there are still opportunities to stop the goal. Same scenario and Meslier slips he gets pelters.

He didn’t mean to make a mistake. Ball loops off Firpo’s head which also makes it trickier - Meslier then backs off and allows the ball to bounce and misjudges it - it has huge consequences but is was a mistake - give the lad a break surely.

We seem to be making costly mistakes of late from the manager to the players , how costly these mistakes will be come the end of the season is concerning.

4 points dropped in 2 games is a piss poor return all things considered from both games.

Still angry about it but things are going the way I thought they would under Farke , play-offs will be where we finish.

International break coming now so lets hope we don't have anymore injury concerns when the players return , we already have key players out till Dec/Jan.
