    That’s a ridiculous statement.
If Barnsley was a club that had been splashing the cash - then suddenly started signing lower league players then that statement would be credible.
    But we arn’t.
    So it ain’t.
    It’s stupid.

Do some people need to be constantly reminded of where our players usually come from and how much they cost - and how much some of them sell for ???
Take for example - Morris - Pinnock - Kitching.

Jeez - sometimes it’s like knocking a nail into a knot.
    It just won’t go in.

A random collection from pre Parekh time---

Morris---- signed from parent club Norwich in Jan 2021 for undisclosed fee after being on loan at seven clubs since 2014

Pinnock--- signed from Forest Green Rovers in June 2017 for undisclosed fee

Kitching----signed from from Forest Green Rovers in Jan 2021 for undisclosed fee

A varied background from three/ four years ago. I'm not clear how this relates to recent times and signings and present financial circumstances.

Recent signings are largely free agents--Roberts, Hourihane, Humphrys, Pines.--supplemented by loans Slonina, Craig

Only Dunn has cost significant money, reported as £750K, paid for by the Styles money (£600K) and Man U ticket income.

In general we are skint--monthly outgoings exceed income only being covered by emergency share issues, cash reserves spent and down to zero, ground sold to Council, Covid loan still to repay, Crynes still owed £3 million for purchase of club though £3mill has been ring fenced in Club Accounts from share issue income to pay for this, number of player assets worth significant money declining each year.

You are spot on SB although we are probably still owed money from the Anderson and Kitchen transfers but that will only be used to prop up the week to week running of the club , we are going down hill and I am afraid for me while ever these lot are running the show the future is looking bleak , but of course the usual ones will blame it all on the the previous and present HC instead of the real culprits .

    Morris was reported at £300k.
Other 2 mentioned were reported for less than that.
Where they came from eg Norwich reserves and Forest Green is very similar to where the current crop come from.

Sprinkled with a few that cost a bit such as Dunn - reported to be nearly £1 million.
Also Benson reported to be £1 million.
    And Gent at £250K.
Most other clubs in this division would give their right arm to bring in players like that.

As for being skint - when Lee / Conway were at the wheel the board of directors were said to be one of wealthiest in football.
Definitely the most wealthy in Yorkshire.

And even now - Neerav keeps dropping 2 or 3 £mil into the pot.
So saying we are skint is just another load er whinging bal.lax.

However - I do believe recruitment has dipped over this last 2 seasons.
    Especially in relation to HCs.
So I’m guessing summerts changed behind the scenes that’s not been announced.

    As for FREEBIES.
That wonderful player that many on here still drool over was a freebie.
    Non other than Crabby Kane.

This as a result of two poor transfer windows.
Last season we recruited a HC who implemented tactics totally against the grain.
This season we didn’t get enough quality players through the door.

My view is this - if you take away the Conway Season - in recent years we have successfully brought to the club good HCs and players.
Suddenly over this last 2 seasons that hasn’t happened.
The question is - why ???
What changed since Duff left ???
Under this leadership YN, I don’t think there will be any ‘good’ transfer windows. It will be more of who can we get cheap/ free and there you are coach, make a competitive team out of that lot.

The much used phrase managed decline is spot on. Everyone can see we’re on a downward spiral and that we don’t have the acumen to arrest the slide.

I seriously fear for our future.

The bitter end could be administration mind .
I hope it doesn’t come to that situation. But the reality is we’re in a nosedive as a club and the current leadership don’t seem to have the talent or tools in a sports arena to do anything about it.

Surely they(ownership) can see what’s happening, if not they can read about it on the forums, but there doesn’t appear to be a cohesive plan to address the decline.

Perhaps a change of ownership or a clear out in the non football management with ‘football people’ replacing them might improve matters.

To continue like we are might result in the bleak picture you describe.

Personally I am further away from a return to grove street than I was from the first days of this consortium. I don’t even watch all the matches that are aired on sky because the product is so poor.

    How do others feel?

    Managed decline !?!?!

    5th in the Championship.
    Then the Conway Season.
    Then Wembley.
Then 6th under a terrible HC.

    Is that managed decline ???

Got to admit we are off the rails right now and the current HC is struggling to get us up and running.
This could well be a hangover from underachieving last season.
    We don’t know.

What we do know - is that player recruitment was relatively poor last season.
    And this season it’s worse.

    It’s nowhere near managed decline.
But there’s definitely a dip this season and last.
