    Blackburn v Swansea

    Blackburn v Swansea Saturday 19 October 15:00)
Back to the bread and butter of club football after our costly duty of releasing our players for International matches.
Costly in that our key player Eom is out for 6 weeks due to a knee injury playing for South Korea.
It’s a tough run of matches before the next International break, first up Blackburn away.
A much changed side this season with several departures including top player Sam Szmodics.
A winning first-half Cullen goal the difference in the corresponding fixture last season, a similar result again would be fantastic. They lost at Plymouth 2-1 last time out, ironically a goal each for ex-Swans Whittaker and Obafemi, with the ‘last gasp’ Whittaker goal coming on 97’.
With the Swans threadbare squad and Eom’s absence perhaps Bianchini can come to the fore or maybe Abdulai.
Our defence has been good so far but it’s at the other end where we are lacking. Only 8 goals scored in 9 matches, hopefully LW has been giving the squad plenty of shooting practice at Fairwood during the break, although our recognised strikers Cullen and Vipotnik have been on International duty.

So just the one goal in it again. Houston we have a problem. No wins and one goal scored in the last four matches. Only eight goals scored in our ten games so far, the lowest in the Championship. Vipotnik and Cullen duds in this system, neither are prolific scorers and never in the right place. Plenty of corners and free-kicks today second half but dealt with easily. Back to the drawing board. Bianchini given a chance to start today and once again poor and missed a chance to score. Our recruitment is poor no wonder Paul Watson was dumped. Meanwhile we are left scraping the barrel of free agents.

Fine margins I think. If we’d bought a goal scorer in the summer we wouldn’t be in this position.
Plenty of corners, free-kicks and off target shots late in the game but all wasted.
Possession 64% but aimless passing in our own half equals boring football.
The defence is pretty tight but up front we are woeful.

Another disappointing performance boys, and without scoring again.
It’s frustrating to watch and I feel sorry for the loyal Jacks who travelled up.
What’s the answer to the problem up front I don’t know, change the tactics maybe.
I know what is not the answer, and that’s passing the ball to death in our own half.

I share your frustration guys but it’s out of our hands, we can only look on at the mess their making of our club since 2016.
