Thread: Millwall - v - Leeds United *** Matchday Thread***

When we are good and ‘at it’ we seem to have a cutting edge and can make clear chances.

When it’s not working like last night then we struggle at times to change it up and do something different - like balls over the top in the channels etc.

We created chances to win and couldn’t take them. Sure Farke will say Piroe’s effort should not have been disallowed but this type of night happens far too often for us to be confident of top 2 spot which otherwise are there for the taking.

Couple of people at work went to the game and said Millwall played like Millwall of old and didn’t try to play football against us but Nick a goal and frustrate. Those tactics seem to be Farke’s kryponite

Not sure it would make much difference. Our style, tactics and training seems to minimize any players individual talents such as what you are referencing. we have quite a few players that can individually beat players all day and have stamina but appear to be told not to do that. Gnonto, James, Tanaka and Solomon are just some that could do that a lot more than they do. I suspect they are either told outright or discouraged in training not to "be selfish".

Millwall wanted it more last night than we did.

We should be at least 7 points better off than we are and probably 10. That shows the gulf between the quality of the squad we have and other sides even with the injuries.

Football should be simple with good players in terms of compressing parts of the pitch creating space and width in others to then exploit.

The last 15 minutes when we needed to chase the game showed how uninspiring and ineffective this style of aimless possession football can be where no risks are taken out wide to beat a man but instead to keep possession and endlessly recycle into stagnation.

Watched the game again this morning , truth is we were pretty poor and offered very little , reminiscent of Bristol City away.

You don't get automatic promotion dropping points to these sides that play the low block and who let us have our tippy tappy play around , settle for the draw but always a chance of a sucker punch goal to take the 3 pts like Millwall did last night.

Farke doesn't seem to learn , maybe he is too stubborn to change.

We will get play-offs guaranteed but we won't get automatic promotion.

When our squad is good enough to win a game, and don't, because the opposition are more determined and better organised, can anyone put their finger on what might be wrong.

...... and three stand out points contributing to a dour performance overall.......

..... 14 games played thus far.... we have lost only 2...... and please recall that last seasons lauded Leicester City went up suffering 11 losses.......

Silly goal to concede last night knowing how they play......... players need to look at themselves, not good enough last night as they knew what to expect from Millwall at the Den where chances offered must be taken to grind a result.......... pity as it ended our 9 game unbeaten sequence.

one thing I've noticed so far is that there are no stand out teams and this league is a shadow of past leagues. Very poor indeed and perhaps it highlights why we are so high up even 90% of the games we are boring toothless and play the same week in week out. The 2 mids are the only stand outs for me the rest are meaoh. I think we have the players only wrong ones playing. James as good as he is in this league is a shadow of fitness since his injuries, piroe can't run or cause damage like a striker should and is more of just a poacher. Aaronson runs around like a headless chook, Gnonto tries to do too much I give him credit as he is having a go and is a good player just not a finisher. Defensive is shameful the 2 fullbacks a re atrocious how Byram got dropped after his last 2 games is beyond words. Meslier my body starts shaking when opposing teams are near him. Rodon has been ok but a shadow of last season. Like usual we will perform ok one game and all is forgiven thill the next few where we are back to the same dross. People trying to find excuses well answers would be better. Muck my words if we go up this years as I doubt it will be by default not earned.

Most of our away 'performances' have been poor, negative and sterile - with the exception of Sunderland when we were clearly robbed by a ridiculous error.

I honestly thought piroe goal was onside, but heyho we go again Saturday, the league seems poor this season and whoever goes up probably doesn’t stand a chance of staying up.

On the "we are higher than is warranted"? Agreed 100%
