Thread: Times nearly up

    Times nearly up

Treading water Corberan, what was the plan tonight, shocking and bizarre team selection once again, awful performance against a very poor Luton side, Diangana and Wallace should never be seen again, massive improvement needed in the next few weeks, looks like a manager running out of ideas

I stumbled across a full match replay of the game today though a bit stuttery and cant now find it again, but until the effort when we scored we did not have a touch of the ball inside their penalty area, that stat seems almost unreal, 40 mins of a match.

I wish that you lot would stop having a go at the bloke...he's clearly under pressure as you can see when he recently returned home for a short holiday

I'm frustrated like many by some of Corberan's starting selections and I dislike all the boring tippy-tappy stuff too but to talk of replacing him seems more than a little premature. Quite aside from the question of who exactly we would replace him with, I think we still have to step back a bit and realise exactly how well Corberan has done given the financial constraints he has had to work with and consequently the players at his disposal.

We over-achieved last season and we flattered to deceive at the start of this one (though we actually played some nice football at times doing it). At the moment we are going through a bad patch and the confidence factor is now taking its toll with some rather shaky displays. Yes, team selections and tactics obviously play their part and these are the responsibility of the manager but Corberan himself is clearly also frustrated by some of the individual performances put in by players on the pitch.

The Championship is a very tough league for all and I am sure things will improve but the bottom line is that we simply do not have the quality or consistency to be at the top. Yes, we should be capable of reaching a play off position again this year but I don't have any real hopes -and certainly no expectations- beyond that. Would any other manager really be able to improve on what Corberan has achieved so far with this group of players?

The football (that’s a laugh) under Southgate, oops Corberan is getting worse, set up not to lose, when was the last time the full backs were allowed to over lap? is shooting from distance banned in training, is trying to score from corners outlawed? We have no inventiveness whatsoever do we not have a dead ball coach?
It’s time Corberan was gone, this dull, drab non football is boring

As I’ve stated on a previous thread, I don’t blame our drop off in form purely on our tactics. Yes, some of Carlos’ selections I have not agreed with but last night’s eleven was as good as it gets and yet another underwhelming performance. Too many individual mistakes and the wrong options are being made. Mowatt’s mistake v.Luton, Swift’s mistake last night which should have led to a goal are examples of this. The number of easy passes that go astray, again, are not the coaches fault.

In our opening half a dozen or so games we were excellent, yet basically the same players are now not producing that form. It is they, who have to take responsibilty for this and not just Carlos.
