Wherever possible, I avoid the ads, go out of the room or at least mute the TV. Actually, I usually play Mahjong while the ads are on (with the TV muted)!

The worse Christmas ad of 2024 by far, You’d think the country is 90% black/brown and gay.

My mom used to be the same when it came to s ex education programmes on TV when I was a kid Mike. It was amazing just how long she could drag out doing the washing up, especially when it was only a couple of plates. She could have re painted the kitchen and fitted new units in the time it took 😃.
Boycott already underway.....

Forget the wokeness, it’s just an awful Ad. Mind you, most of them are and bare no resemblance to the item that they are advertising.
I won't be upsetting myself over this until such time as someone proves they've met Mr and Mrs Claus and their Christmas Elves to confirm they're not a mixed race couple and their helpers aren't cross dressing trans exuals and drag queens.
And I want photographs as proof. And video footage of course. At which time I still won't upset myself over this. Kicking this Boots ban thingy into touch. Much ado about nothing.
Boots are now owned by a foreign registered company in Switzerland and pay a millions less tax than they used to .
Like many Xmas ads, don't think it is particularly good.
As for the question of "woke", I have no issue at all with encouraging inclusiveness or greater representation of minority groups whether that be based on colour, ***ual orientation or disability. But I also feel that this should also be proportionate so that it more accurately reflects society and if every single advert strives to ensure they all include someone representing every colour/ ***/ disability then you end up with a very skewed picture (as in Little Britain's "only Gay in the village" lampooning).
For the record, the latest ONS report on ethnic groups in the UK has those identifying as "white British" as 74.4%, "Asian" 9.3% (of which Indian and Pakistani make up roughly a third each of this), "non British white" 6.2% and "Black" 4% (of which African 2.5% and Afro-Caribbean 1%). "Mixed" is 2.9% "Other" is 2.1%.
As regards ***uality, the 2021 Census saw 3.2% of the population identify as Gay, lesbian or Bi. In addition, 0.5% responded "No" to the question of whether they identified with the *** registered at their birth. 0.24% did not provide detail, 0.2% identified as trans, .06% as non-binary. You would never guess from watching adverts in particular these days that this was the case would you? On the other hand, it is estimated that 24% of the population have some form of disability and so, if any group is severely under-represented, it is them!
Obviously businesses want to target audiences, so in areas with higher percentages of ethnic groups (Manchester, Birmingham, London etc.) you would expect to see this reflected more in their adverts. I haven't an issue with them being more "inclusive" in far less cosmopolitan areas either as these still have ethic minorities or LGBQ+ people living there but the current situation whereby everyone seems to be falling over each other to meet some kind of PC quota that does not reflect society seems ridiculous.
Representive of today's society? It's going to be a strange old Christmas advert that includes car thieves, knife gangs, terrorists, tax dodging corporations and atheists. And Jedi Knights. Probably more interesting as well to be fair. Could be a goer.
