It's not the problem insofar as child abuse is concerned.

Child abuse occurs wherever children come into contact with adults. Churches are just one place where it happens.

But aren't certain institutions such as the church in a different place from the narrative you describe , I'm talking about trust and belief in the church .

I share your view on religion but how are religious people meant to trust the church when in their view there is no greater power .

No institution can be holier than thou ( no pun intended ) but this is something else in my opinion .
