I think times you deliberately miss the point to carry on the debate Elite, Gammon isn?t a jokey reference it?s an insult to people who don?t agree with certain viewpoints. It is often used by people who can only win the argument by name calling the other side. I have never actually met a middle aged man whose face goes the colour of gammon when they rage about foreigners etc, have you?

Anyway you carry on supporting this banter.

Agree totally, it's all about the agenda and diversion from the real issues that they know they can't back up, hence where the 'Leftie' meltdowns come from and are deliberately strung out by diversion.

It?s not the term I disagreed with, just keldsyke applying it to a specific poster without any evidence. That would be like me calling you a gammon when I don?t know whether you are or not.

Gammon is not a racist slur at all unless you are a complete and utter snowflake! An extended member of my family is black and he's a proper closed-minded thick slab of gammon.

I should probably have described the term gammon as a caricature rather than jokey. Gammons are a group of people who definitely exist, but if you insist on taking it in a purely literal sense I can understand why you have never met any.

A former female work colleague is married to a proper gentleman who happens to be Romanian.
The first time that I met him at a works dinner, during conversation , he made the point about people in the UK taking their hard won " freedoms " for granted. He went on to describe life under Ceaucescu, the Stasi Secret Police and fear of their collaborators and informants. This was more than 15 years ago, he said the warning signs are apparent here and we should be very vigilant.
Recent events seem to bear out his prophecy, with the Es*** Police Force, attacking democracy freedoms by calling at the home of a prominent journalist.
Downing Street has since stated that there will be a review of these supposed crimes etc.

Incidentally, with regards to racist name calling , Tom Curry was a victim of a racial slur, when playing v South Africa in a Rugby Union International . Despite this being brought to the attention of the Referee , the authorities declined to make public any action they may have taken.

If that isn't an example of a racial slur , what is ?

I'm certainly not condoning Coote's actions but German isn't a race and neither is the other word, to be fair.
