Geographically I'm not sure but I think the West Coast where we've always lived is a bit pricier then other regions apart from Hawaii which due to it's remoteness has very high prices, about double the mainland.
Locally they also vary quite widely dependent upon if you want to shop in a 'posh' grocery store or a bargain grocery store (e.g. Walmart). Differences between these can be 50%.
I'd say England is generally more expensive than the US unless you shop in Aldi/Lidl.
