As I understand it these payments are part of the 0.5% overseas aid budget that have been paid by every government in the last 6 decades. There is nothing new here, as well the Express/GB News and Farage know. It isn't an initiative put in place by this freak government, it is the same policy by governments in our lifetimes.
Good to see farmers standing up for themselves, as lots of professions have done in the last 15 years of austerity politics. Good for them. But why isn't there the same comeradere on here with other professions who've taken to the streets? Might it be that there is huge wealth influences in the farming lobbies that can influence such public reactions against the relatively minor changes to inheritence tax? Course not, that would be conspiracy and we don't like that on here do we?
For balance to the discussion, on the difficulty in making any changes to tax to fund decimated public services: https://www.theguardian.com/commenti...-labour-reform
The decimated public services started years ago. No such thing as community they said!
Cameron and the other Con with their austerity which cut 25% off the public expenditure.
The miners when that was public owned.
The railway, the steel industry and any other industries that have been axed in this long, long line of globalisation and privatisation.
Raging. We are all victims of it and we?ll keep being victims of it until we stand together.
Calling yourself a conspiracy theorist means automatically that you don?t want to be put in that bracket but you?re quite happy to put other people in in.
I honestly believe that you think that the world governments would hurt us.
They call it collateral damage in wars.
They?re now happy to risk everyone?s life with a nuclear war.
Regardless of who is to blame we are all hoping that Putin does not retaliate!
Not sure the far left are much in favour of Starmer's policies Bill seeing as how he has frozen many of them out of the party in order to make the party appear electable. Seems to me we have a centrist government trying to enact very limited policies on raising revenues as no one will vote for any party that will ask them to directly pay more towards our services and infrastructure. I think the far left would be much more for taxing the super rich - that isn't happening and won't be allowed to by the voting public.
So at seems to me that Labour are trying to operate at the fringe to raise as much as they can for as little political cost as possible - really hard when with any means testing policy, will always have genuine sufferers at the cut off points. It also seems to me that the voting public don't want it any other way, but many will also moan heartily at this also.
That said what difficult choices would you make to raise money for services that we all want/need Bill?
I?m sorry rangingpup but this is a far left government. The problem is that the centre ground was Blair.
The people that are said to be far right are people like me now! I never have been to the right of the political scale but the scale has moved so much.
The crazy thing about politics and how it?s changed has one person who has been constant with his views. He?s had to change parties to stick to his beliefs. Lee Anderson.
Happy to help froggy. It must be quite depressing believing in so many conspiracy theories.
"Theories" is probably too generous.
The political gap between the centre and right has widened to the point where the right is in danger of falling over the edge.
Have you seen the con theory that the world is flat?
How's that froggy?
If this is a fat left government, then what are the people who believe that all should review equalised pay regardless of work undertaken because all work is inherently valuable to the state? Or that the workers should own the means of production? Or even that super tax should be increased to 90+%?
If Blair was centre right, and Starmers lot far left, what are the different policy ideas that make this distinction in your opinion?
